Today we are once again speaking with a world renowned living legend all about his phenomenal career on Broadway and in Hollywood in honor of his new 54 Below engagement later this month, titled STEPPIN OUT', the one and only Ben Vereen. Besides sharing what lucky attendees can expect from his 54 Below shows, Vereen also shares preliminary plans to bring a new biomusical to Broadway some season soon as well as the forthcoming release of a star-studded documentary all about his iconic show business legacy planned to be released later this year. Additionally, Vereen reflects on a number of recent milestones and looks back at some of his most memorable movie musical work in honor of the 45th anniversary of the release of SWEET CHARITY last month, plus the brand new Blu-ray editions of FUNNY LADY and ALL THAT JAZZ now available. Plus, Vereen shines a light on his ongoing patronship of the arts and spotlights the importance of arts education in schools via the nationwide high school competition series leading up to the yearly Ben Vereen Awards while also clueing us in on some of his upcoming theatre projects, including directing a regional production of HAIR and more. As if all of that were not enough, Vereen also comments on some recent small screen and big screen appearances including his turn on the final season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER opposite Neil Patrick Harris and sharing the screen with Betty White on HOT IN CLEVELAND, not to mention the smash hit success of the ensemble Chris Rock comedy TOP FIVE. With five Broadway shows under her belt, and several national tours, Ms. Croman returns to Texas, having graduated from the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Ms. Croman is also no stranger to the musical CHICAGO; she's performed in the show alongside the likes of Billy Ray Cyrus, Bebe Neuwirth, Kara DioGuardi and John O'Hurley, to name a few. (more...)

Terra C. MacLeod was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. Her experience in the performing arts started when she was four years old, when she began taking ballet lessons. She got her theater arts degree at AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy), after which started getting roles such as Cassie in A Chorus Line. Terra has traveled around the world as a performer; today, she calls Vancouver, British Columbia home, and has performed in such shows as Damn Yankees, My Fair Lady, and She Loves Me. This weekend, Terra comes to Thousand Oaks performing one of her favorite roles, the sultry murderess Velma in Theater League's production of Chicago. We talked to her from the road and she gave us some fascinating insights into her character. (more...)

Today in 2001, the first Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing opened at the Plymouth Theatre (now the Gerald Shoenfeld Theatre), where it ran for 68 performances. Bells Are Ringing is a musical with a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and music by Jule Styne. The story revolves around Ella, who works at an answering service and the characters that she meets there. The original Broadway production, directed by Jerome Robbins and choreographed by Robbins and Bob Fosse, opened on November 29, 1956 at the Shubert Theatre, where it ran for slightly more than two years, and starred Judy Holliday as Ella and Sydney Chaplin as Jeff Moss. Upon attending the workshop, students will learn first-hand about what it takes on put on a Broadway show from pre-production through strike, networking and resume writing, and more!
