Preview performances began Tuesday, September 7th, opening night will be Tuesday, September 14 and the play will run through Sunday, October 3rd at TADA Theatre, 15 West 28th Street, 2nd floor, between Broadway and 5th Avenue. Show times are: Tuesday and Friday at 7pm; Wednesday and Sunday at 2pm; and Saturday at 5pm and 9pm. After reading far too many obituaries claiming, while not exactly mourning, the death of the Broadway musical, insisting that the art form can only be revived by injections of the kind of music that appeals to today's young audiences, I decided to take a night off from cabarets and piano bars a couple of Sundays ago to see what kind of songs were going to save the hallowed grounds of Gershwin, Porter and Rodgers. The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that 81-year old composer Charles Strouse took ill while in Philadelphia yesterday to accept a lifetime achievement award at the Arts Bank in Philadelphia. The series pilot introduces a troupe of theater students led by the melodramatic drama teacher Ms. Darbus, a beloved character from the cultural sensation 'High School Musical.'
