Tony Award Winner Donna McKechnie and Academy Award, Tony Award, Grammy Award, Golden Globe and Pulitzer Prize Winner Marvin Hamlisch will team up with Tony Award Winner James D. Stern (Hairspray, Stomp, An Education) and Adam Del Deo (So Goes the Nation, The Year of Yao) to discuss the recently released documentary Every Little Step. The presentation, which will take place at Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Triangle, will feature a performance by McKechnie and Hamlisch and include a signing of the DVD for fans. The star-studded evening of entertainment will benefit the non-profit organization which brings young talent closer to their Broadway dreams regardless of their financial status through intensive week-long Broadway training programs throughout the country. Baayork Lee Set to Direct China-Bound FLOWER DRUM SONG

The Center for the Asian Arts and Media at Columbia College in Chicago has announced that Baayork Lee will direct and choreograph their new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Flower Drum Song next August. The production, which will begin as a concert in Washington D.C. in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in collaboration with the U.S.-Asia Institute in May of 2010, will run for one month in Chicago. The show will ultimately make a transfer to Shanghai in the late fall of 2010. (more...)

Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays have officially launched at the Public Theater. The series Part 2, The Brothers Size and Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet, directed by Robert O'Hara, began previews on October 21. Part 1, In the red and Brown Water, hits the stage. Tina Landau directs. McCraney, one of America's most acclaimed young writers, returns to The Public to complete his trilogy following the success of The Brothers Size in 2007. The 92nd Street Y has announced casting for the 2010 season of Lyrics & Lyricists. Lucie Arnaz, Debby Boone, Capathia Jenkins, James Naughton and Raúl Esparza are among the performers who will present the music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, Johnny Burke and Hoagy Carmichael. The season also includes a night of songs made famous by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and one devoted to the art of the satirical song, featuring works by Tom Lehrer, 'Yip' Harburg, Stephen Sondheim and others. The season is curated by series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer, and a line-up of guest artistic directors - Lucie Arnaz, Daryl Sherman, Rob Fisher, and Ted Sperling. (more...)

Michael Urie To Star in Reading of Brian Sloan's WTC VIEW 11/22 at Player's Theatre

Michael Urie ('Ugly Betty', 'The Tempermentals') is headlining a reading of Brian Sloan's 'WTC View' on November 22nd at the historic Player's Theatre in Greenwich Village. The play was originally staged as part of the 2003 NY Intl. Fringe Festival , with Urie originating the lead role. It was adapted into a 2006 film, directed by Sloan, a New York-based writer/filmmaker ('Boys Life', 'I Think I Do'). Now, the play is back on stage with its eye on a 2011 production in New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. (more...)
