With the purchase of a regularly-priced ticket, children aged 18 and under can receive a FREE ticket of equal value for the Thursday performance or the Sunday evening performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is thrilled to welcome Bret Shuford and Emily McNamara January 27th. Bret Shuford can currently be seen on Broadway in Disney's The Little Mermaid( Prince Eric understudy). Mr. Shufords other Broadway credits included Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Beauty and the Beast. Bret has appeared in several Actors Fund benefit performances including The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Emily McNamara created the role of 'Inga' in the Off-Broadway hit The Awesome 80's Prom. She has also appeared in My First Time at New World Stages. The popular comedian/singer/actress was the winner of 'XL Star' and has appeared in Broadway Loves the 80's at Joe's Pub. Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is described as an evening of music, games and comedy featuring a new Broadway guest each week. It is hosted by actor Ben Cameron (Aida, Footloose, Wicked). Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the most fantasmagorical Broadway musical in the history of everything, is searching for six children in the Houston area to make their stage debut with CHITTY at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts when she arrives on February 24th for a 15-performance engagement through March 7th! Based on the timeless novel by famed James Bond author and creator, Ian Fleming, the production features the music and lyrics by the legendary Sherman brothers, composers of Mary Poppins. The national tour also features an original script and fresh adaptation directed by Ray Roderick. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang boasts a beloved score, including memorable classics such as 'Truly Scrumptious,' 'Toot Sweets,' 'Hushabye Mountain' and the Oscar?-nominated title song, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.' Auditions will be held at the Hobby Center (800 Bagby Houston, TX 77002) on February 1st at 10am. Auditioning children are to arrive no later than 9:30am accompanied by a parent or guardian to check in. Auditions will begin promptly at 10am. Each child will be asked to sing a cappella 16 bars from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should be prepared to learn and execute simple choreography as part of the audition process. No decisions will be announced during the auditions. Six children will be selected for the ensemble, and they will appear as orphans in Act 2 of every performance. Two alternates will also be chosen. Approximate ages should be between 8 and 12 years old - and have the appearance of children, NOT young adults. Some rehearsals will be required, and information on scheduling for rehearsals and performances will be given out once the six children have been chosen. The Chicago engagement of the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been canceled. The show was originally scheduled to play The Chicago Theatre Feb. 11-15. The tour's website announces that the engagement was canceled 'due to slower than expected local ticket sales.' Any tickets that were ordered through Ticketmaster (by phone or on-line) will be credited to the purchaser's credit card account. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster outlets or through The Chicago Theatre's box office must be returned to the original point of purchase. The Friends of North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) have announced details for a rousing fundraising event to help save the region's legendary theater. The event, organized by a volunteer committee of trustees, former employees, NSMT alumni and parents, will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliot Street in Danvers, MA at 6:30 pm. The star-studded evening will be hosted by venerable NSMT actor David Coffee. Best known for his role as Scrooge in NSMT's production of A Christmas Carol, Coffee also played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, as well as countless other memorable roles at NSMT. Coffee will be joined by special guest George Dvorsky, star of A Christmas Carol, The Full Monty, Kiss Me, Kate, and many, many more NSMT productions. Dvorsky is currently starring in the First National Tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Also performing and lending their support during the evening will be many Boston area favorites who have performed at NSMT, including Peter S. Adams, Leigh Barrett, Maureen Brennan, Mary Callanan, Andrew Giordano, Cassandra Marsh, Cheryl McMahon, Robert Saoud, and Kathy St. George. The event has brought in $45,000 which will help keep the theatre operating over the few months and working towards the 4 million dollars needed to produce a 2009 Season. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang comes to the Providence Performing Arts Center beginning March 19 for six performances only! Based on the novel by famed James Bond author and creator Ian Fleming, the production features music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers, composers of MARY POPPINS. The National Tour also features an original script and a fresh adaptation, directed by Ray Roderick. The Providence engagement of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also features six local children in the chorus. In October of 2008, over eighty children came to PPAC for the audition, which consisted of them learning choreography from the show, on-site, and singing an up-tempo song of their choice. The show's producers selected Andrew Purdy, of Franklin, MA; Eric Halvarson, of Cranston; Rebekah Philip, of Rehoboth, MA; Carolina King and Virginia King, of Clayville; and Fifer Horwitz of Tiverton as the regulars, and Daniel Perkins, of Bellingham, MA and Maddie Crump, of Norfolk, MA as the boy and girl alternates. The Chicago engagement of the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been canceled. The show was originally scheduled to play The Chicago Theatre Feb. 11-15. The tour's website announces that the engagement was canceled 'due to slower than expected local ticket sales.' Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the most fantasmagorical Broadway musical in the history of everything, is searching for six children in the Houston area to make their stage debut with CHITTY at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts when she arrives on February 24th for a 15-performance engagement through March 7th! Based on the timeless novel by famed James Bond author and creator, Ian Fleming, the production features the music and lyrics by the legendary Sherman brothers, composers of Mary Poppins. The national tour also features an original script and fresh adaptation directed by Ray Roderick. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang boasts a beloved score, including memorable classics such as 'Truly Scrumptious,' 'Toot Sweets,' 'Hushabye Mountain' and the Oscar?-nominated title song, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.' Auditions will be held at the Hobby Center (800 Bagby Houston, TX 77002) on February 1st at 10am. Auditioning children are to arrive no later than 9:30am accompanied by a parent or guardian to check in. Auditions will begin promptly at 10am. Each child will be asked to sing a cappella 16 bars from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should be prepared to learn and execute simple choreography as part of the audition process. No decisions will be announced during the auditions. Six children will be selected for the ensemble, and they will appear as orphans in Act 2 of every performance. Two alternates will also be chosen. Approximate ages should be between 8 and 12 years old - and have the appearance of children, NOT young adults. Some rehearsals will be required, and information on scheduling for rehearsals and performances will be given out once the six children have been chosen.
