Baz Bamigboye reports in today's UK Daily Mail that the hit production of the Chichester Festival Theatre's SWEENEY TODD, starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton will indeed, as rumored, transfer to the West End's Adelphi Theatre, beginning on March 10, 1012. The transfer is said to have been approved by Stephen Sondheim who saw the show last week, and delayed a return trip home to see the production a second time. The paper notes that 'he considers the Chichester Sweeney to be a landmark production and would like it, and its two stars, to go to New York.' (more...)

FOLLIES Star Jan Maxwell Returns to Show Nov. 1 Post-Accident

As BroadwayWorld.com first reported this weekend, FOLLIES star Jan Maxwell was hit by a minivan while crossing 45th Street following the Saturday, October 29 matinee. The star suffered injuries to her arm and leg. She was unable to perform on Saturday night and was also be out at the Sunday matinee to stay home and recuperate. Her understudy, Colleen Fitzpatrick, went on in her absence this weekend. BroadwayWorld has just confirmed with a spokesperson for the show that Maxwell is back and better, and will resume performances tonight, November 1. (more...)

Robert Creighton to Perform at Metropolitan Room, 2/12

Broadway's ROBERT CREIGHTO, celebrates the February 14 release of his debut CD, "Ain't We got Fun!" (LML Music), with two performances at New York City's Metropolitan Room, February 12 and 13 at 9:30pm. Creighton has appeared in a non-stop string of six Broadway shows, including, currently, as the Purser in Anything Goes. Fellow cast member JOEL GREY appears on "Ain't We Got Fun!" singing "Give My Regards To Broadway". On both nights, a five piece band and special guests will appear with Creighton to celebrate the occasion. The Metropolitan Room is located at: 34 West 22nd Street, NYC. Rewrites are a painstaking part of the process and there are many reasons why a song - even a good one - may never make it to opening night.
