Sting's acclaimed musical, THE LAST SHIP, starring and featuring original music and lyrics by multiple Grammy Award-winner Sting, will make its premiere in Detroit at the Detroit Opera House, April 22-26, 2020, as part of an international Tour. THE LAST SHIP will also have engagements in Los Angeles at Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre; San Francisco at SHN's Golden Gate Theatre; Washington D.C. at the National Theatre; and in St. Paul, MN at the Ordway.

Gateway for Cancer Research, a non-profit dedicated to funding transformational cancer research, hosted their 3rd Annual Vino con Stelle, a signature fundraising event showcasing Wines Around the World on Friday, April 12 at the Gemini Hangar in Scottsdale, Arizona. Since 1991, Gateway for Cancer Research (Gateway) has provided over $85 million in funding for more than 170 clinical trials at leading institutions worldwide. This week, Gateway announced a $1.5 million grant to fund a first-of-its-kind pediatric brain cancer study at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

When one thinks of Stephen Schwartz, the lyricist and composer of theater titles 'Godspell,' 'Pippin,' and 'Wicked,' or the films 'Pocahontas,' 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame,' and 'Enchanted' come to mind. How about 'Children of Eden'? Probably not.

An American icon comes home.  During the early years of his career, American composer, conductor and arranger Henry Mancini and his family lived not far from where California State University, Northridge campus now stands.  On Saturday, October 13 at 8pm, Mancini's music comes home to Northridge as The Soraya presents Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini.  Starring Monica Mancini with special guest three-time Tony nominated Joshua Henry, Moon River and the Music of Henry Mancini features Gregg Field as Music Director and Chris Walden conducting the New West Symphony.  

The Ladies Foursome was based upon an earlier play by Foster entitled The Foursome, in which four men who are old buddies from college, play 18 holes of golf. Foster shifted the story to feature four women instead of four men, and changed the plot in specific ways to fit his new cast of characters. Ladies Foursome premiered at the Morrisburg Theatre in Montreal, Canada in July of 2014. The show received glowing reviews with many critics claiming that this new Foursome was better than the first. Soon after, the play received an American premiere at the B Street Theatre, and since then has been produced at the Bay Theatre in Baltimore, Theatre Baddeck in Cape Brenton Island, and the Toowoomba Theatre in Canada.

Goodman Theatre celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune) in a major revival of Emily Mann's Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. Directed by the Goodman's longtime Resident Director Chuck Smith, the production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively. The sisters were discovered in 1991 when Amy Hill Hearth interviewed them for The New York Times. Following the article, the trio co-authored the book, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years-a New York Times bestseller and heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest. Mann adapted it for the stage, first at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey and then to Broadway, where it ran for 317 performances. Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years appears May 5 - June 10, 2018 in the Albert Theatre (opening night is Monday, May 14). The artists selected for this prestigious residency and training program are composers Shuying Li, Andy Tierstein, and Liliya Ugay; librettists Lorene Cary, Julian Crouch, and Lila Palmer; and dramaturg Antigoni Gaitana.
