What did our critic think of CHICAGO at The Orpheum Theatre Memphis? Chicago is celebrating 25 dazzling years and it has returned to Memphis! It is certainly a fan favorite, with exhilirating dancing and an iconic story that is known around the world. The 1975 musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, is the 2nd longest running Broadway musical (thanks to the 1996 revival), behind fan favorite Phantom of the Opera.

Hot off the heels of a US Jawny tour and with more dates on the horizon with The 1975, Wallice is back with big news. The EP is yet another triumph in songwriting, with Wallice giving a masterclass in Gen Z’s hopes, dreams and failures. EXPO CHICAGO, has announced program curators for the 10th anniversary edition (April 13-16, 2023) returning to Navy Pier's Festival Hall. Showcasing large-scale sculpture, video, film, and site-specific works throughout Festival Hall, the 2023 IN/SITU program will be curated by Claudia Segura, Curator of Exhibitions and Collection of the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). Aimé Iglesias Lukin, Director and Chief Curator of Visual Arts at Americas Society in New York has been selected to curate the 2023 EXPOSURE section, which highlights solo and two-artist presentations from galleries 10 years and younger. Lukin will curate a presentation focused on heralding emerging artists and exhibition programs, with counsel from the Selection Committee and exposition's directors.

FACETS 39th Annual Chicago International Children's Film Festival (CICFF), one of only two Academy Award qualifying international children's film festivals in the world, proudly announces the dates for the 2022 festival. Presented from Friday, Nov. 4 through Sunday, Nov. 20, with tickets going on sale Monday, September 26, FACETS is pleased to offer limited in-person screenings as well as the entire festival selection available via national streaming. 

What did our critic think? Denis Jones (Director/Choreographer) and Barry Busby (Associate Choreographer) have assembled a splendid cast plus an ensemble of highly skilled dance professionals to pack the expansive Muny stage. Their choreography pays tribute to Fosse’s sexy and subtle work but morph it into grand movements that play to the back of this massive 11,000-seat house. Their choreography on “We Both Reached for the Gun” is an electrifying delight.

Chicago is a piece of musical theatre that feels as though it has been around forever. Premiering in 1975, directed and choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse, it quickly gained an iconic status and an exhausting number of revivals followed. Currently running on Broadway, starring Pamela Anderson, it is also on a highly successful tour that lands at the New Wimbledon Theatre this week.

The Chicago area's 49th annual Bach Week Festival will present concerts in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois, from April 24 to May 12, 2022.

 Skylight Music Theatre today announced the cast and creative team for Raisin, running April 8-24, 2022. Raisin is an uplifting musical adaptation of the award-winning play, A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. Raisin won the 1974 Tony Award and the 1975 Grammy Award for Best Musical.

The production features Emanuelle Araujo, in the role of sarcastic Velma Kelly; Paulo Szot, as  the charming and unscrupulous Billy Flynn (a role he currently played on Broadway); and Carol Costa as the “innocent” and surprising Roxie Hart. L. Candido (Mary Sunshine), Lilian Valeska (Mama Morton) and Eduardo Amir (Amos Hart) complete the main cast.
