Show Description:

Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fianceé Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod -- a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
Avenue Q is the best show of the year! Just when you're wheezing with laughter from the hummable, hilarious tunes, you're blindsided by a beautifully sincere love song. There's no handy way to describe 'AVENUE Q,' except as one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see." Entertainment Weekly

REVIEW: RENT Broadway Tour Measures the Love at OCPAC (Ends 10/25)
by Michael L. Quintos - October 22, 2009
Has it really been 13 years since RENT first arrived on Broadway? As soon as original cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp make their entrance on stage to start the current "Broadway Tour" production (playing through October 25 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center), the audience erupts into deafening screams and howls, almost as if this was not a musical theater play but, rather, a rock reunion concert. In some aspects, it is. We've got two original members of the "band" coming together on the road, singing familiar hits...a little older—perhaps a little wiser—and getting the royal rock treatment, even before a single lyric is uttered. Review - Avenue Q
by Michael Dale - October 22, 2009
No, that steady rumble you may hear and feel beneath your feet as you walk along 50th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues these evenings is not the A train making its way to Columbus Circle. It's the sound of laughing audiences having a swell time in the underground quintet of auditoriums called New World Stages. The former movie multiplex turned Off-Broadway house seems to be experiencing a happy renaissance, with its long-running anchor production, Altar Boyz, having been joined by laughter-inducing hits like The Toxic Avenger, Naked Boys Singing, My First Time and The Gazillion Bubble Show (which I haven't seen but I'm sure brings out many giggles from the youngsters). The hilarious Love Child, which previously ran at 59E59 will be moving in shortly, but first the welcome mat (and perhaps a red carpet) has been set for the center's new crown jewel as the Tony-winning Avenue Q completes its successful Broadway run and returns to its Off-Broadway roots.
