Katherine McPhee is heading back to the diner! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the star is making her return to the role of Jenna in Waitress for the show's final weeks. The producers of the hit musical, Waitress, announced today that Katharine McPhee will lead the company as Jenna for the final weeks of the Broadway run. Katharine McPhee returns to Waitress, where she made her Broadway debut last year. She subsequently made her West End debut in March 2019, reprising the role of Jenna for the show's UK premiere. Since vaulting to fame as a captivating singer on a?oeAmerican Idol,a?? Season 5, she's become a successful recording artist, landing numerous songs and albums on Billboard's pop, jazz, holiday and adult-contemporary charts. Her latest album of timeless American standards a?oeI Fall in Love Too Easilya?? was released by BMG in 2017. As an acclaimed actress, she was the breakout star of the 2013 NBC-TV musical series, a?oeSmash,a?? Executive Produced by Steven Spielberg with music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and starred in the hit CBS dramatic series a?oeScorpion.a??

This week we're spotlighting Nadia DiGiallonardo is currently the music director for the Broadway production of Waitress at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, where she can be found playing and conducting Sara Bareilles' score most nights. She is also the music supervisor for the national tour and international companies of Waitress.

BroadwayWorld has just learned the original Dr. Pomatter, Drew Gehling, will make a return to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre this fall. Gehling will take over the role, currently played by  Mark Evans, beginning October 30, through the show's closing performance on January 5. 

For the third year in a row, the leading ladies of Waitress will change the iconic waitress uniforms from blue to pink for the month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Al Roker will return to the cast of Waitress as a?oeJoea?? from November 1st through November 24th. Al Roker made his Broadway debut in the role last year. Jordin Sparks will also extend her run as Jenna through November 24th.

Sugar, butter, Miranda! Former Waitress star Colleen Ballinger's YouTube personality, Miranda Sings, recently headed to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to sneak backstage and try to make her Broadway debut at the diner, no matter what it takes. Check out the full video to see all of Miranda's antics ensue!

Waitress has announced its next Cast Album Karaoke Night will take place on 25 September offering audience members the chance to sing songs from the smash hit comedy musical, by 7-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, live on the West End stage. The event will be hosted by Joe Sugg who takes over the role of Ogie from 9 September and Marisha Wallace who plays waitress Becky, in the production. Audience members who want to take part in the Cast Album Karaoke Night just need to sign up before that evening's show for the chance to sing one minute of any song from Waitress at the Adelphi and accompanied by the show's musical director Katharine Woolley.
