BroadwayWorld interviewed Zachary Sayle about the show's 'fansies,' life on the road, the banner the musical carries, and even Sayle's other Disney favorites. Sayle started his career at a young age, playing the child roles in tours of shows including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music. The UK premiere of Kinky Boots, the feel-good multi award-winning musical, will open in the West End on 15 September at the Adelphi Theatre, with previews from 21 August 2015. With a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, music and lyrics by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, and direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots won the2013 Tony Award for Best Musical, and the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. According to an Equity casting notice, Disney Theatrical Productions will soon hold a developmental lab for a musical version of Freaky Friday. Christopher Ashley will helm the project, which will feature music and lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (If/Then, Next to Normal) and a book by Bridget Carpenter. The new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical, Gigi, began its pre-Broadway engagement in the Eisenhower Theater at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on January 16 and closes today, February 12, 2015. Gigi will open on Broadway in spring 2015 following the D.C. engagement. (more...)

Drama Desk nominee Amy Spanger ('Six Feet Under'; Reefer Madness) has replaced Ms. Blonsky as the show's opener, singing Yeston's Oscar nominated hit 'Take It All.' (more...)
