Actor, musician and songwriter Jeremiah Downes will bring Highways and Daydreams: The Songs of Jeremiah Downes to New York City this October 14th at The Duplex. Sarah Bolt (Wicked, Sister Act), Amanda Brizzi, Dan Callahan, Larry Hamilton (MADAME: The Musical), Joy Mayweather and Janet Rowley will lend their talents to Downes' words and music. A revue, Highways and Daydreams features songs written over the last decade, as well as material from Downes' other works in progress, Radio Flyer and Seven. Highways and Daydreams had its premiere in 2011 at the Martin and Biello Studio in Philadelphia with Janet Rowley, Alex Keiper and under the musical direction of Christopher Ertelt. (more...)

Green is a veteran of Hasty Pudding Theatricals and a frequent orchestrator for Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers, Sarah Plain and Tall). The musical opened last night, Oct 9, starring Rosalie Craig as Princess Athea. The Light Princess also stars Amy Booth-Steel as Piper, Nick Hendrix as Prince Digby, David Langham as Flowers, Hal Fowler as King Ignacio, Ben Thompson as Zephyrus, and Kane Oliver Parry as Llewelyn. There are some classics you just don't mess with. "Casablanca", "Lawrence of Arabia" and yes, "The Wizard of Oz". OK, so there have been a number of sequels or prequels and complete rewrites (such as "The Wiz", which I love) but up to now no one has felt they could make the original better. That is until the ego that is Andrew Lloyd Webber came along and said, "Sure it's good but it needs my special flair." Well Sir Andrew, keep your special flair to yourself as what you have done is to jam in utterly forgettable new songs and horrifying jokes into the show and created a bastardized version of a classic.
