On last night's episode of the Daily Show, THE BOOK OF MORMON star and Tony nominee Josh Gad returned as a correspondent for Sunday's NYC Gay Pride Parade. The New York Post reports that The Mormon Church is going to unroll a new ad campaign throughout New York City in the hope that the success of Broadway's megahit, BOOK OF MORMON will bring new membership to its churches.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording for THE BOOK OF MORMON is #3 on Billboard's Top 200 albums this week, in figures released by the publication today. THE BOOK OF MORMON is the first Broadway cast recording to break into Billboard's Top 10 since the release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hair in 1969, passing the positions of other top-selling cast recordings over the years, such as Dreamgirls, which reached #11 in 1982 and Rent, which reached #19 in 1996. Already the biggest selling digital release of a cast recording of all time, THE BOOK OF MORMON's cast recording is #1 on the digital release chart this week, selling more albums than such artists as Adele and All Time Low.

The East Coast was not the only crowd that was in a celebratory mood on Sunday night for the Tony Awards, at which The Book of Mormon came out the big winner. In Seattle, Washington, the premiere cast of Disney's Aladdin, directed by Mormon's Casey Nicholaw, was also celebrating the nine Mormon Tonys, including the one accepted by Nicholaw for Best Direction of a Musical.
