Starvox Entertainment today announced casting details for Trey Parker's Cannibal! The Musical on stage at David Mirvish's Panasonic Theatre (651 Yonge St.) from Feb. 10 to Mar. 8, 2015. The highly anticipated new production tells the hilarious, and (mostly) true story of Alferd Packer, the only person ever convicted of cannibalism in America. Based on Parker's fan-favourite film of the same name, Cannibal! The Musical will premiere a brand new production featuring new songs, new jokes, and an all-Canadian cast led by Liam Tobin as Packer (Shrek the Musical, MTC's Next to Normal) and Elicia MacKenzie (The Sound of Music; winner of CBC's How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?) as Polly Pry, Packer's unexpected love interest. This just in! The NY Times reports that Sting will be joining the cast of the musical he penned, THE LAST SHIP for a limited run from December 9th to January 10, 2015. He will be replacing actor Jimmy Nail, who is said to have 'blessed' the move. The production has been reportedly losing $75,000 a week since performances began on Sept. 29. According to the Times, it needs to gross at least $625,000 a week to break even and sustain a Broadway run. (more...)

Directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award® Winner Kathleen Marshall (Broadway's Anything Goes, Nice Work If You Can Get It), the production begins performances at Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre December 9. It will play for six and a half weeks, through January 25. According to the Washington Post, later today Crow and Levinson will both take part in Post: POV, a series hosted by Peter Marks, at which the duo will discuss putting the new musical together.
