Bernadette Peters and Nikki Blonsky guest star on UGLY BETTY tonight January 8th, 2009. UGLY BETTY is a Golden Globe and Emmy winning comedy starring America Ferrera in the title role, along with Eric Mabius, Judith Light, Rebecca Romijn and Vanessa Williams. The series premiered on September 28, 2006, on ABC in the United States.

"Slaphappy," A Romantic Comedy Opens Feb 2009!

Jeffrey A. Katz, presents the world premiere of 'Slaphappy,' a romantic comedy of lost lovers and tormented ducks, by Chicago playwright Gary Slezak. Set in a Paris hotel, the play explores the idea of happiness through the eyes of four Americans, a loopy bellboy, an astute concierge, and a society of pâté lovers. Battling couples, exploding rockets, mistaken medications and a taste of foie gras come together in a delirious confection. This Equity show runs about two hours plus two intermissions. Great Performances to Air McKellen's 'LEAR' on PBS in 3/09

The LA Times is reporting that Sir Ian McKellen and the rest of the key KING LEAR cast taped the play for television cameras in a British studio, under the eye of director Trevor Nunn. The result is scheduled to be broadcast starting March 25 on PBS stations, courtesy of the 'Great Performances' series produced by New York's WNET.

Paul R. Tetreault, Director of Ford's Theatre Society, announced the line-up for the free Living Lincoln Series, which will premiere Feb. 16, 2009. This Monday-night series will explore the many aspects of President Lincoln's personality and life through lectures, panels, play readings and performances. The series is part of the grand reopening for Ford's Theatre, which reopens in February after an 18-month renovation.

Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 25th Sundance Film Festival. In addition to the four Competition categories, the Festival presents films in five out-of-competition sections to be announced tomorrow. The 2009 Sundance Film Festival runs January 15-25 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah.
