Maurer Productions OnStage (MPO) brings Ken Ludwig's comedy farce 'Lend Me A Tenor' to the Kelsey stage Fridays, Feb. 20 and 27 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Feb. 21 and 28 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Feb. 22 and March 1 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The new production of Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy HARVEY directed by Lindsay Posner and starring James Dreyfus as Elwood P. Dowd and Maureen Lipman as Veta Louise Simmons, will play a limited season at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket from Tuesday 17 March until Saturday 2 May, with a Gala Night on Monday 23 March. The production will first open at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 6 February, running until 21 February, with a national press night on Tuesday 17 February. After Birmingham, the production will play in Malvern from 24 to 28 February and Richmond from 3 to 7 March. (more...)

Today in 1931, Broadway veteran James Earl Jones was born. He has won Tony awards in 1969 for The Great White Hope and in 1987 for Fences. He has acted in many Shakespearean roles: Othello, King Lear, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Abhorson in Measure for Measure, and Claudius in Hamlet. On April 7, 2005, James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams headed the cast in an African-American Broadway revival version of On Golden Pond, directed by Leonard Foglia and produced by Jeffrey Finn. In February 2008, he starred on Broadway as Big Daddy in a limited-run, all-African-American production of Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Debbie Allen and mounted at the Broadhurst Theatre. In October 2010, Jones returned to the Broadway stage in Alfred Uhry's Driving Miss Daisy along with Vanessa Redgrave at the Golden Theatre. In November 2011, Jones starred in Driving Miss Daisy in London's West End, and on November 12 Jones received his honorary Oscar in front of the audience at the Wyndham's Theatre, which was presented to him by Ben Kingsley. Queens-based Titan Theatre Company will conclude its critically acclaimed 2014/15 season with a signature take on Shakespeare's classic tragedy Othello featuring an ALL FEMALE CAST. The production will play a limited run April 17 - May 2, 2015 at Queens Theatre, the borough's premiere performing arts venue. Titan Theatre Company Artistic Director Lenny Banovez, who previously helmed Titan's hit productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet and Henry V, will direct. Shakespeare's most tragic hero squares off against arguably his greatest villain, in the classic tale of jealousy, betrayal, and vengeance.
