Liberty Hall Museum's Holiday Programming to Kick Off Black Friday

Liberty Hall Museum's much-anticipated Christmas tour, From St. Nicholas to Santa Claus, begins this Friday, kicking off a spate of exciting holiday programming and events at the museum, the home of New Jersey's first elected governor, William Livingston. A celebration of five distinct Christmas traditions and eras in history, From St. Nicholas to Santa Claus focuses on the Dutch tradition of St. Nicholas (c. 1774), the English tradition of Twelfth Night (c. 1800), 'The Night Before Christmas' (c. 1848), a Victorian Christmas (c. 1899), and a WWII Christmas (c. 1942). Beginning Friday, November 29th, tours will be available Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $6.00 for children, college students and seniors; $8.00 for Kean University alumni; and $10.00 for adults. Since 1881, an ancient Egyptian monument-the obelisk of Pharaoh Thutmose III, popularly known as "Cleopatra's Needle"-has stood in New York's Central Park, a gift to the City of New York from the khedives of Egypt. It is the only monumental obelisk from ancient Egypt in the United States. The obelisk can be seen from several vantage points within The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is located nearby. As the Central Park Conservancy begins to develop a plan to conserve the monument, the Metropolitan Museum will present an exhibition about the construction and evolving symbolism of obelisks from antiquity to the present day. After installing the application on a PC or tablet, the user can enjoy stunning photographs of World Heritage sites from around the world. January features A Photograph of Mt. Fuji, which was added to the World Heritage List in June 2013. The calendar also includes fun facts and trivia about World Heritage sites, and the pictures can be viewed as a slideshow. The application was developed as an educational tool for the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network of more than 9,000 educational institutions in 180 countries, and Panasonic plans to enhance the content of the calendar in the future.
