The Red Bander's are on the hunt for some of his favorite things to get him moving and talking again; Kara is trading this hunt for Hunter, and trying to find out a little more about what his deal is and who this new woman/girlfriend, may be in his life; and Nurse Jackson and Dr. McAndrews are a little freaked out if the Neurology Specialist they sent for Charlie, may be some quack that was interrupted from his AMERICAN IDOL audition. Bookworks Presents Its November Edition of IT'S ABOUT BOOKSBookworks Presents Its November Edition of IT'S ABOUT BOOKS
by BWW News Desk - Nov 18, 2014

It is all about how an author carefully and purposely beckons each word to each page until those words pull together into a magnificent creation having a life of its own. The book I am reviewing,All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, is one such masterful creation. Don't wait for the paperback, don't wait for the movie, buy the book, now. Buy it as a gift, buy it for yourself, insist that your book club adds it to the list of must reads. Read it when you have the time to savor each and every word that has been so carefully placed. This book puts to shame many of the other books I have read this year. The characters, the story line, the settings, the time periods, the premise and purpose that stand behind the book are knitted together flawlessly, satisfying the reader completely. Every sentence is fraught with beautiful imagery. (more...)

THE WINTER OF APRIL to Run 12/4-21 at Theatre for the New CityTHE WINTER OF APRIL to Run 12/4-21 at Theatre for the New City
by BWW News Desk - Nov 17, 2014

'The Winter of April,' a Police Thriller partly inspired by the Gilgo Beach murders on Long Island in 2010, compares the fate of murdered sex workers with others who have been shadowed or forgotten by history, including those, like Ada Lovelace, who were at the forefront of science and technology. The play was written and structured by Ricardo Sarmiento Gaffurri from a concept by director Ramiro Antonio Sandoval and his Tabula RaSa NYC Theater & Performance Lab. It is mounted with ensemble acting, sophisticated audiovisuals and multimedia modeling. The piece protests society's tendency to tie sexual crimes to one perpetrator, when the individual is usually the tip of an iceberg--a global machine of human trafficking. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., NYC will present the play's world premiere December 4 to 21. (more...)
