The power of storytelling is paramount in our latest ACTING UP FRONT production, Mary Zimmerman's The Arabian Nights. Director Jeff Mills (from BOXTALES Theatre Company) and his seventeen-member cast will amaze and beguile as they enact Scheherazade's tales of love, lust, comedy and dreams. Great storytelling needs nothing more than an empty space, the voices and bodies of the tellers and the engaged imagination of the audience. There is no more fitting material for our ACTING UP FRONT style than tales from the Thousand and One Nights. (more...)

NAHF to Unveil New Sculptures at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park, 6/25

The Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) will unveil six new sculptures-on-loan at the award-winning E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park on June 25 at 6 pm. Artists will be on hand to answer questions about their pieces during a walking tour after the ceremony. The sculptures will remain in the park through May of 2015. The House Theatre of Chicago presents DORIAN, a modern adaptation of Oscar Wilde's novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray.' This famous thriller of Dorian's ill-fated portrait is performed in Promenade style. This original play is intended for mature audiences only, and is written by Company Members Ben Lobpries and Tommy Rapley. Company Member Kevin O'Donnell provides the score. Rapley directs and choreographs. The production previews today, April 4 - 13 and opens on Monday April 14 at 7pm at the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St, Chicago). Sculptures Leaving E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park

The Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) has begun the process of removing the current six sculptures-on-loan at the award-winning E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park. The sculptures have been on display in the park since June of 2013. Six new sculptures chosen for the 2014/2015 season will be unveiled at a public ceremony at the park on June 25 at 6 p.m. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about the pieces during a walking tour after the ceremony. Northglenn's annual free summer concert series will continue with rock/folk artist Wendy Woo immediately following the unveiling ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The new sculptures will remain in the park through May of 2015. The park is located at 11801 Community Center Drive; one-half mile south of 120th Avenue and Grant Street in Northglenn, just south of the new Webster Lake Promenade. (more...)

This season's New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) conclude with a focus on Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1, led by Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Joshua Weilerstein and featuring pianist Paul Lewis, today, April 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. This is the final program in this season's series, Points of Entry, in which each concert explores facets of music and the orchestra itself through one influential score.
