BWW Review: AN ACT OF THE IMAGINATION is a Killer at Oyster Mill
by Marakay Rogers - Oct 8, 2016

When a mystery novelist's foray into romantic fiction starts to play out In Real Life, with a death as the cherry on top, what is he to do? Nothing goes as you might expect, even when plot points are predictible. (more...)

BWW Review: Park Square Theatre Brings Will Eno's Funny, Weird, and Moving Play THE REALISTIC JONESES to Life with a Fantastic Four-Person Cast
by Jill Schafer - Oct 7, 2016

THE REALISTIC JONESES is an odd little play. But I shouldn't be surprised; the other Will Eno play I've seen (THOM PAIN (BASED ON NOTHING) by Loudmouth Collective) is exceedingly odd. But odd in the best way. THE JONESES is a little more, well, realistic, than the one-man show THOM PAIN, with an actual plot and characters in conversation with each other. But I still don't understand everything that happened, and sometimes characters say things that don't make sense, and there's no resolution to the problems the characters are facing. But that's OK. I like theater that doesn't tie things up in a neat bow in the end, that's a little unexpected and even jarring. I'm happy to spend 90 minutes or so in this odd and sometimes uncomfortable world populated by odd and sometimes unlikeable people, beautifully brought to life by this fantastic four-person cast. BWW Review: Classic RAISIN IN THE SUN at Rep Spotlights How Far We Haven't Come
by Jay Irwin - Oct 6, 2016

There are certain plays out there that remain enduring classics. Maybe they're just that good. Or maybe they still pack a punch all these years later and resonate with attitudes of today. Well the Seattle Rep is presenting one on those classics with Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun" and while it falls firmly into that first category of "just that good" unfortunately watching it last night I also felt how far we have and haven't come since it debuted in 1959 as many of the themes of inequality and prejudice on display are still all too prevalent today. BWW Recap: Liza's Livin' in a Marshmallow World, & More, on YOUNGER
by Matt Smith - Oct 5, 2016

As the familiar song goes, it's a marshmallow world in the winter, but it seems like winter's come early for Liza, who's all about the sticky s'mores snack this week, using it to prove a point to her boyfriend about temptation, gratification and happiness (don't you just love when she impresses us with her 40-year-old psychology knowledge?). Of course, that's when she's not involved in her crazy 26-year-old antics, like trying to prevent Kelsey from opening her laptop, lest her secret be blown, or attempting to talk to Charles and figuring out their relationship. Looks like this web is as sticky as the marshmallows!! It's all ahead (or behind, depending on if you've seen the episode or not!) on this week's recap, so if you're intrigued… please, read on:  (more...)

by BWW News Desk - Oct 16, 2016

If nothing else, the continued scandals surrounding Donald Trump have given Alec Baldwin a deep well of material from which to draw for his SNL impression of the Republican Presidential Nominee. Last night, Baldwin's Trump and Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton went head-to-head in a cold open of the second presidential debate, which was so bad In Real Life that the SNL counterparts of Martha Raddatz (Cecily Strong) and Anderson Cooper (Alex Moffat) took a shot before beginning. by Anton Anderssen - Oct 12, 2016

If you like your Halloween entertainment a little on the wacky-creepy side, you will love Broadway in Detroit's “A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER” now on stage at the beautiful Fisher Theatre.
