BWW Blog: Nanjibah Khan - The Theatre Sticks With Us
by Guest Blogger: Nanjibah Khan - May 9, 2016

Many people think theatre is a temporary thing for themselves. Just an enjoyable hobby to pass the time, because it is very frequent that someone who indulges in the theatre does not pursue it as a career. This is why many people don't take theatre as a big part of their life. They may say, "Oh, I was a part of the drama club way back in high school." But what do they not know is that the theatre becomes a part of you that never dies. (more...)

BWW Review: MEMPHIS at Theatre Three
by Kyle Christopher West - May 4, 2016

By 2009, when the musical MEMPHIS opened on Broadway, America had nearly 60 years since the Civil Rights Movement began in the 1950s. But, despite significant progress, headlines even today continue to affirm our society's failings in the areas of discrimination and prejudice. Monday night, when the house lights faded for opening night of MEMPHIS at Theatre Three, the crowd cheered. Although I was just as eager to support the company's newest production, I'd not considered how moved I would be by the historic, but still timely themes. (more...)

BWW Review: Vagabonds' MOON OVER BUFFALO Keeps the Audience in Stitches
by Jack L. B. Gohn - May 31, 2016

Driven to a frenzy by the thought that director film director Frank Capra is in the audience, the Hay family and their retinue get completely confused about the play to be performed for him. Is it Private Lives or Cyrano de Bergerac? It kinda matters which, since the two plays aren't interchangeable, as Moon Over Buffalo will in due course illustrate. (more...)

BWW Blog: Emma Mueller - Let the Chips Fall Where They May
by Guest Blogger: Emma Mueller - May 3, 2016

I sat on a bench by myself beside a winding staircase and several closed doors, where other 17-year-olds like me were pouring their hearts out in audition room. I smoothed my dark blue dress and twisted my perfectly curled hair in between my fingers anxiously. My right leg was crossed over my left, and my foot was tapping the air sporadically as if that would help ease the nerves. I looked at the clock and only 30 seconds had passed since I had last checked the time.  (more...)

BWW Blog: Taylor Kyes - NYC - 4 Shows and an Opera
by Guest Blogger: Taylor Kyes - Jun 20, 2016

My first trip to New York was in January, and dare I say it, I fell in love. I had the pleasure of seeing 4 Broadway shows and an Opera at the Met in the 5 days that I was there (including travel days).  I got to tour the New Amsterdam Theater  (aka the theater that shows Disney Musicals) and try on some of the costumes, which was such an insane and incredible experience: check that off my bucket list. by Shari Barrett - Apr 27, 2016

Every year, Hollywood studios spend millions upon millions of dollars on TV pilots, the “test shows” that networks order before deciding which shows should become full-fledged series or wind up being locked away in a vault never to be seen again. For every pilot that eventually airs, there are three that never will see daylight, even though there are thousands of hopeful writers, directors and actors in our town that work around-the-clock during “pilot season,” hoping their work will be picked up and make them a lot of money as a hit TV series.
