Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for recent Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Appearing in titles roles are Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

French harpsichordist Olivier Baumont, professor at the Paris Conservatoire, is featured in a solo suite, joins violinist and artistic director Ryan Brown and viola da gambist Kenneth Slowik in one of the composer's Pièces de clavecin en concert, and performs transcriptions from Les Indes Galantes with harpsichordist Andrew Appel. Sopranos Gaële Le Roi and Kelly Ballou, and baritone David Newman, join to perform the lively Canons and Airs published in the composer's historic Treatise on Harmony.

Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.

This spring marks the 15th anniversary production of The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett at Park Square Theatre. When it closes on May 15, the production-the touching story of a brave young woman coming of age in hiding from the Nazis-will have played for 638 performances and inspired 201,000 audience members, including tens of thousands of students from all over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. The original Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway production played for 717 performances. Julie Ann Nevill, who has played Mrs. Van Daan since the first curtain call, said 'This show has tremendous impact on our whole region with as many as 16,000 students seeing it every year - for most it's their first professional live theatre experience. Due to the sudden death of guest vocalist Alexei Mochalov's wife, tonight's February 7 program of Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica at the Harris Theater has been changed. Mieczyslaw Weinberg's Concertino, Op. 42 and Benjamin Britten's Young Apollo, Op. 16 replaces the previously scheduled Antiformalist Rayok by Dmitri Shostakovich and Britten's Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, Op. 10. With the addition of Concertino, Op. 42, audience members will have the extraordinary opportunity to hear two works featuring violinist Gidon Kremer. Kremer also leads Kremerata Baltica in Weinberg's Symphony No.10 for strings, Op.98, appearing onstage in three of the evening's four works.
