Melissa Gilbert, who rose to fame as a child playing ‘Laura' in the hugely successful NBC television series 'Little House on the Prairie' during the 1970's, now continues her legacy ‘on the prairie' by taking on the role of Ma. George Street Playhouse Cancels Upcoming Production of FOX ON THE FAIRWAY, Replaced with Gurney's SYLVIA

The George Street Playhouse has cancelled their upcoming run of the play FOX ON THE FAIRWAY and has replaced it with A.R. Gurney's SYLVIA. Due to conflicting schedules, Ken Ludwig's FOX ON THE FAIRWAY has been moved to the 2010-2011 season. SYLVIA will be directed by David Saint and will run March 30th, 2010 through April 25th, 2010. The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, will continue its star-studded Fall 2009 season with the celebrated chanteuse, MAUDE MAGGART. She will bring her critically-acclaimed show 'Parents and Children' back to New York. When it debuted last spring, The New York Times called Maude an 'increasingly fascinating entertainer' whose show was 'bewitching' and 'seductive.' The evening features songs by Stephen Sondheim ('Beautiful'), Rodgers & Hammerstein ('You've Got To Be Carefully Taught'), Dolly Parton ('Coat Of Many Colors'), George Gershwin ('The Man I Love'), Alec Wilder ('Be A Child') and Maury Yeston ('My Grandmother's Love Letters'). The posthumous release of Remember How I Love You: Love Letters from an Extraordinary Marriage, Jerry and Elaine Orbach's autobiographical memoir recounting their thirty year marriage, was celebrated at a once-in-a-lifetime reunion of the couple's colleagues and friends at The Snapple Theater Center on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 5:30 PM. Each morning before leaving their Hell's Kitchen apartment to report to the set of Law & Order, Jerry wrote Elaine a short poem for her to find upon waking. The poems were humorous, sweet and topical, focusing on the couple's morning rituals, their daily routine - whatever was on Jerry's mind. Combined, they tell the story of a marriage full of life and love. (more...)
