The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

There's a mist of romance in the air as South Bay Music Theatre automizes a scent of romance with the hit musical a?oeShe Loves Mea??.  This scintillating tale of love lost and found at the workplace was the 1993 Tony Award winner for best revival. Giant Pictures has acquired the US rights for Bruno de Almeida's new movie, Cabaret Maxime, starring Michael Imperioli. It will open theatrically at the Metrograph in NYC on February 21st, ahead of a national, multi-platform rollout on March 3rd.

The Academy of American Poets is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 American Poets Prizes, which are among the most valuable and venerable poetry prizes in the United States. Building on the previous success of the “Summer Fun & Games” brand, The ABC Television Network is expanding its slate of game shows to three nights, adding four new exciting series to the upcoming schedule. In addition to bringing back the iconic “Press Your Luck” and “Card Sharks” to TV, ABC will launch two new alternative shows – “Holey Moley,” an epic mini-golf competition featuring NBA superstar Stephen Curry as resident golf pro; and “Family Food Fight,” hosted by renowned restaurateur and New York Times best-selling cookbook author Ayesha Curry. All of these shows are part of the summer premiere dates schedule announced today by the network.

In this two-person character study, Joey Brant (R. Emmett Lee, who more than adequately took on the challenge of learning to speak Hebrew for the part) is a Jewish divorce lawyer in his 60s who never had a bar mitzvah ceremony. For reasons which become clear in the story, Joey's bar mitzvah ceremony must take place at the synagogue he attended five decades ago where his grandson Ben Goldman will carry on the family tradition with his own bar mitzvah in a matter of months. Joey, a thoroughly secularized man, must now re-connect with the faith of his ancestors, but promptly alienates the synagogue's regular instructor. But when Joey goes to meet with the temple's new rabbi for his bar mitzvah lessons, he is shocked to find a woman is now in charge.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents Inna Faliks, piano, one of the most "adventurous and passionate" (The New Yorker) artists of her generation, performing a world premiere by Richard Danielpour and works by Rodion Shchedrin, Schumann and Chopin in her Wallis debut on Sunday, May 12, 2019, 7 pm, in The Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater. The Ukrainian-born American pianist gives the world premiere of Iranian-American composer Danielpour's Eleven Bagatelles for Piano, Shchedrin's Basso Ostinato, Chopin's Polonaise-Fantasie, Op 61, and Schumann's Symphonic Etudes, Op 13, with posthumous variations. Faliks, Head of Piano at UCLA, performs on leading stages around the globe, garnering acclaim for her musical "poetry and panoramic vision" (The Washington Post) and "riveting passion" (The Baltimore Sun). Grammy winner Danielpour is "an outstanding composer" (New York Daily News) and one of the most recorded composers of his generation with a list of commissions from Yo-Yo Ma, Jessye Norman, Dawn Upshaw, Emanuel Ax, the New York Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Guarneri and Emerson string quartets, among many others. Like Faliks, he also teaches at UCLA, as Co-Area Head, Composition.

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, celebrates the rich, unusual, and widely celebrated work of composer John Corigliano. Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical.
