Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance will present The Who's Tommy, a fast-paced and exhilarating rock opera featuring a thrilling score by the legendary British rock band The Who, from March 21-24 and March 27-31 in the Varner Studio Theatre in Varner Hall.

The Montalban is a special place. The Ricardo Montalban Foundation became the proud owners and operators of this historic venue in 1999. The building has a glorious history of "firsts" and in 2009, after over seventy years of theatrical, screened and broadcast entertainment inside the theatre, it became the first structure in Hollywood's 21st century to curate entertainment on its rooftop. Between sports-related, high-energy dance, film screenings under the stars and other public and private events, The Montalban will be celebrating its first decade of outdoor activities on its multifaceted rooftop in 2019 - all year long! To kick-off its alfresco decade, it's hosting pop-up movie screenings starting on February 1st, just in time for Groundhog Day, with a trio of Harold Ramis comedies before the official season of Rooftop Movies at The Montalban returns in April. Films will include Animal House (Fri. 2/1), Groundhog Day ON Groundhog Day (Sat. 2/2) and Caddyshack (Sun. 2/3 ). For Valentine's Day The Montalban will host another pop-up with over a week of romance-themed film screenings from Friday, February 8th through Sunday, February 17, 2019. Netflix continues to bet on local content and starts production in Barcelona of Hogar, a new original film that will be coming soon to Netflix users worldwide.

American Noise: Vol. 2 is the anticipated second limited edition vinyl release soundtrack companion to The Smart Studios Story, a groundbreaking documentary about the history of Madison, Wisconsin's Smart Studios and its role in recording and supporting DIY/independent music in the Midwest. The critically acclaimed film chronicles 30 years of Midwest rock history and links early indie bands to the larger story of American rock history. Dirtnap Records is doing a one time only pressing of 500 copies of American Noise: Vol 2 on black vinyl that will be released on Jan 18th.

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired the domestic rights to DANGER ONE, a dark comedy/action film directed by Tom Oesch and written by Steffen Schlachtenhaufen. DANGER ONE was produced by Mythmaker Productions (which also produced the slasher thriller Reaper and the hit real estate satire Pocket Listing) and Silvatar Media (which also produced the horror thriller The Pyramid and the spine-tingler Removal). Producers include Dwjuan Fox, Naji Jurdi, Mark James, James Jurdi, Bradley A. Jabour, Michael S. Klein, Victor Najjarian, Saud Shawwaf, Chady Eli Mattar, Scott C. Silver, and David Willing. The film, which stars Tom Everett Scott, James Jurdi, Angelica Celaya, Damon Dayoub, and Denis O'Hare, will hit select theaters nationwide on September 143th, 2018.

PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES was my first Broadway musical, so it not only holds a special place in my heart, but I still remember most of the lyrics. Running for 577 performances in 1982-83 and earning a Tony nomination for Best Musical, PUMP BOYS was 'the little show that could' with just six cast members and a small set.  In April of 2017 at Wild Project in the East Village, a revival of James McLure's Lone Star, by NINE Theatricals, took the stage in New York City for only the second time since it's Broadway debut in 1979. The production was met with tremendous feedback and glowing reviews from New York City critics and audiences who had not before seen this lesser known work. With a demand for more shows, producers moved Lone Star, in May, to The Triad Theatre for a limited Off Broadway contract run.
