On Monday, May 18 at 8:00 PM, Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage in San Diego is presenting TV and movie star Erich Bergen in Erich Bergen - Live! Best known for his performance as Bob Gaudio in the Clint Eastwood film of Jersey Boys (reprising the role he played on stage for over three years) and his costarring role as Blake Moran on the CBS nighttime drama Madam Secretary (recently renewed for its second season after consistently being in the Top 10 since its debut in September 2014), Erich Bergen will bring his dry wit and smooth vocals to the Martinis Above Fourth main stage with musical director Michael Orland (American Idol). The show will feature songs from Bergen's stage and screen career and songs from his two EP releases - his self-titled debut and the recent Never Give Up. The singer and actor will appear at Martinis Above Fourth for one show only on Monday, May 18 at 8:00 PM. In addition to the San Diego appearance, Chris Isaacson Presents is presenting Bergen's show at Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles on May 21 and 22. (more...)

Rosendorf One Productions has announced that it will present DEVOTED DREAMS, a new dark comedy about a young man who takes on the business world, battling an insurmountable work load, brutal bosses and overbearing parents at The Beckett Theatre, Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd St. Written by Christopher B. Latro and directed by Anna Bamberger, the production will begin previews on Wednesday, May 27 at 2PM and will have its official opening on Friday, May 29 at 8PM. Tennessee Williams' searing southern drama, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" currently playing at ACT, opens with Brick (Brandon O'Neill) and his wife Maggie (Laura Griffith) in a heated conversation about the disintegrating state of their marriage and is filled with sexual tension. Or at least it should be. Unfortunately the relationship of Griffith and O'Neill's Maggie and Brick feels so stale and desperately one-note that there's nowhere for the characters to go. In fact it wasn't until Act Two that the play held much interest for me and really got into the richness of some of these characters. (more...)

William Ivey Long the Tony Award winning costume designer visited the 970 AM radio studios dressed handsomely in a very traditional sport jacket shirt and tie.á He then had a spirited conversation with Peter LeDonne and Jamie deRoy about costumes, Broadway, movies, plus of all things, the spirits he serves up in his two establishments on 2nd Avenue in New York City.á In addition to his life in the theatre and his 14 Tony nominations, William is also the proprietor of Ninth Ward and Shoolbred's, both on 2nd Avenue. Besides being a genius with clothes William was an excellent conversationalist, and it was suggested that it was his other life as a saloonkeeper that made Him such a great guest on Backstage with Peter LeDonne.
