ON THE INSIDE Opens 11/5 at Abrons Arts Center
by BWW News Desk - Oct 28, 2016

In a nation that incarcerates more people than any other country in the world, LGBTQ prisoners face a greater risk of physical and sexual victimization. They are more likely to experience assault and abuse by corrections officers as well as other prisoners, and less likely to have support from family and friends on the outside due to their sexuality or gender identity. Behind bars, their identities are stripped away and they become just another number in the system.  (more...)

THE WINTER YARD is indeed back for the 2016-2017 season, courtesy of funding from Boston's Barr Foundation and the Massachusetts Cultural Council/Local Cultural Council (MV).  And there's no better way to kick off a season of sugar, spice, and gender-fluid mistletoe, renegade skaters, proto-punk Inuk throat-singers and the island's home-grown dance stars, than with a delirious celebration of holiday spirit and tradition. Ladies and Gentlemen, you asked for it to come back, and now it's here - "NUT/CRACKED", choreographed by The Bang Group's co-director David Parker, in collaboration with the company.  You may likely see a few of your neighbors or offspring up there on stage ... by Cary Ginell - Nov 2, 2016

The title of All My Sons, Arthur Miller's riveting play of guilt, heartbreak, and tragedy, refers to 21 young World War II combat pilots, who were needlessly killed when cracked cylinder heads were unknowingly installed in their airplanes. The blame for this lays at the feet of Joe Keller, a successful manufacturer who decided that since there was so much pressure on him to produce much needed airplane parts, that he decided to push the faulty heads through, instructing his factory manager, Steve Deever, to paint over the Cracks and ship them out anyway. But Joe allowed Steve to accept the blame after the tragedies and is now languishing in prison while Joe has gotten off scot-free. (more...)

BWW Review: SONG ABOUT HIMSELF Confounds at Catastrophic Theatre
by Brett Cullum - Nov 18, 2016

SONG ABOUT HIMSELF is a linguistic fantasia set inside of the chatroom of a post-apocalyptic social network. There are ghosts here on both sides of humanity's line, and language suffers the most as a result. (more...)
