THE ELECTION MONOLOGUES Offers Unity on Inauguration Day, 1/20

On Inauguration Day in the United States, an event of resistance and unity will take place in 14 cities across the country, bringing together people of all ages, colors and political dispositions to share their personal stories about the 2016 election. The Election Monologues will take place in theaters and public spaces throughout America, where groups of 6-10 people will share monologues about how the election has affected them. (more...)

Last year through Lyric Unlimited's groundbreaking Chicago Voices initiative, three incredibly unique groups were selected for a 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience to bring their community's stories to life through song. Now, Lyric is excited to announce the second round of Community Created Performances! Groups of Chicagoans are invited to share their untold, compelling stories that may not typically appear in the paper or in mainstream media. Texas State University Dance Team's 'Strutters' to Perform at Trump's Inauguration Despite Criticism

The Texas State University's all-female dance team, The Strutters, have had controversy and criticism over their history, including integration, weight restrictions, cardio conditioning and strength requirements, restrictions on body piercings and more.   The team defends itself by reminding others that the being part of the organization is elective, not mandatory, and that the rules are in place to insure a level playing field for everyone, and designed to bring out an individual's qualities within the constructs of a team.
