Two-time Tony Award® winner James Earl Jones (Hoke Coleburn), Tony and Oscar® winner Vanessa Redgrave (Daisy Werthan) and four-time Tony Award® winner Boyd Gaines (Boolie Werthan) will star in the critically acclaimed production of Driving Miss Daisy, at the Wyndham's Theatre from 26 September until 17 December, with press night on 5 October. The play, written by Alfred Uhry and directed by David Esbjornson, enjoyed a record breaking sell-out run on Broadway until 9 April this year. Design is by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting is by Peter Kaczorowski , music by Mark Bennett and sound by Christopher Cronin. Yale Press to Publish Eugene O'Neill's EXORCISM

According to the NY Times, Yale University Press wil publish Eugene O'Neill's autobiographical, one-act play- EXORCISM. The play, which was written by O'Neill soon after a failed suicide attempt in 1912, was believed to have been destroyed, will be available in book form in February. (more...)

Baz Bamigboye reports in today's UK Daily Mail that the hit production of the Chichester Festival Theatre's SWEENEY TODD, starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton will indeed, as rumored, transfer to the West End's Adelphi Theatre, beginning on March 10, 1012. The transfer is said to have been approved by Stephen Sondheim who saw the show last week, and delayed a return trip home to see the production a second time. The paper notes that 'he considers the Chichester Sweeney to be a landmark production and would like it, and its two stars, to go to New York.' (more...)

While this production borrows its title from a childish poem, it should by no means be mistaken for children's entertainment, and in fact, an early scene's full-frontal male nudity audibly takes the full house at Fells Point Corner Theatre by surprise. But the adult content shares quite a few themes with the nursery rhymes and fables that underscore our childhood: It's all about the pursuit of happiness and how our success or failure in that quest hinges on our decisions. Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe will produce the World Premieres of four new plays and musicals in its 2011-12 Winter Season. The season will feature the World Premiere musicals Some Lovers by music legend Burt Bacharach and Tony Award winner Steven Sater and Nobody Loves You by Gaby Alter and Itamar Moses, as well as the West Coast Premiere of John Kander and Fred Ebb's The Scottsboro Boys, recently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical, directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The two plays receiving World Premiere productions are Somewhere by Globe Playwright-in-Residence Matthew Lopez and The Recommendation by Jonathan Caren. The new season also includes revivals of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show and the Eugene O'Neill classic Anna Christie directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner David Auburn. Special events include the World Premiere of Odyssey by Todd Almond, a music theater event conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet celebrating the Globe's 75th Anniversary, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program production of Twelfth Night and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which returns for its 14th consecutive year. Goodman Theatre Artistic Director RoRobert Falls announced today that he will direct bert Falls The Iceman Cometh, Eugene O'Neill's epic portrait of hope and disillusionment, running April 22 - June 10, 2012 in the Albert Theatre. Falls' major revival features Tony Award-winning stage and screen stars Nathan Lane Nathan Lane as hardware salesman and pipe dreambuster Theodore 'Hickey' Hickman, and Brian Dennehy Brian Dennehy as one-time syndicalist-anarchist Larry Slade. Hailed by The New York Times as a 'ferocious American classic that has lost none of its power,' The Iceman Cometh marked Falls' and Dennehy's first O'Neill collaboration at the Goodman in 1990-a production which featured Dennehy in the role of Hickey. According to the Chicago Tribune, Nathan Lane will star in the Goodman Theatre production of Eugene O'Neill's 'The Iceman Cometh.' The show will be directed by Robert Falls and will run in Spring 2012. Falls commented: 'Nathan had approached me about wanting to work on an O'Neill play and I have finally been able to put together this project I have been working on for three years. The full company is announced for the final season of The Bridge Project featuring Kevin Spacey, artistic director of The Old Vic, in the title role of Richard III. The Bridge Project will open at The Old Vic in London on June 29, 2011 and then embark on an international tour including the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Spain's Centro Niemeyer, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Singapore Repertory Theatre, arriving at BAM's Harvey Theater in New York in January 2012.
