Frozen might not arrive on Broadway until 2018, but preparations for the stage musical are already beginning. According to an Equity casting notice, a developmental lab will be held this spring, with rehearsals running April 30 through May 13. Auditions commence for the roles of Anna (late teens to 20s) and Elsa (20s to early 30s) later this month. Auditions for the Denver and Broadway productions will not begin until summer 2016. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge (RAGTIME), this ambitious new original musical---advertised with declared aspirations for an eventual engagement on Broadway---fashions an early 20th Century era, multi-character narrative about the construction of one of the world's most iconic skyscrapers: the Empire State Building in New York City. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway and television actress Linda Lavin for two very special concerts on the historic stage this past week. The show, wryly entitled 'My First Farewell Concert,' is Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. She performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, Ron Affif on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey announced today that the critically acclaimed Broadway BoundEclipsed will today launch a campaign to bring 10,000 girls to see the show.  Through the '10,000 Girls Campaign,' girls from the Tri-State area between ages 16 to 24, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a Broadway show, will be given tickets to see Eclipsed.
