There comes a time in every young actor's life where they're cast in a challenging role. Whether the part is physically demanding, musically difficult, or just a strange role to play, all actors have been there at some point or another. When most people recall their hardest roles, it's a fond experience. Maybe they were a lead dancer in Anything Goes, and they hadn't taken one tap lesson in their life. Maybe they were Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical, and they had to paint themselves green in between scenes. Maybe they were Cinderella in Into the Woods, and they had to fall flat on their face every other scene. What was my hardest role? I was the front end of a cow. (more...)

Magical Music for Life Foundation is thrilled to present its 5th annual TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE benefit concert Sunday, May 1, 2016 on Broadway between 42nd & 43rd Streets in Times Square. The goal of the concert is to raise financial support to produce a new original album of songs for water safety applicable to children with and without specials needs, awareness of our music, and funds to perform our musical written especially for children with autism and other special needs. The event will be a continuous sing-a-thon, where talented children and groups from six states will come together to share the same stage with over 70 Broadway performers from most of the current shows and many past shows. Cast, Creative Team Announced for SOUPS, STEWS, AND CASSEROLES: 1976 at Goodman Theatre

On the heels of their critically acclaimed world premiere of Luna Gale, playwright Rebecca Gilman and Artistic Director Robert Falls again join forces for her newest drama, Soups, Stews, and Casseroles: 1976. Change is coming to a small Wisconsin town when a corporation acquires a local cheese manufacturer, which employs the majority of the town's working class citizens. For the Durst family, the merger presents newfound opportunity-and a moral dilemma. The Chicago premiere, which marks the play's second production following its 2014 world premiere at The Repertory of St. Louis, features Cliff Chamberlain as longtime factory employee Kim Durst; Cora Vander Broek as his wife Kat; Lindsay Stock as their daughter, Kelly. Rounding out the cast are Ty Olwin (Kyle), Angela Reed (Elaine) and Ann Whitney (JoAnne). The creative team includes Kevin Depinet (set), Richard Woodbury (sound), Jenny Mannis (costumes) and Jesse Klug (lights). Kimberly Osgood is the production stage manager. Paper Mill Playhouse has announced complete casting for Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's classic musical West Side Story, directed by Paper Mill Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee and Jerome Robbins' original choreography recreated by Alex Sanchez. West Side Story is based on a conception by Jerome Robbins and features a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. (more...)
