Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that The Old Globe, in partnership with KPBS, will host a special screening of 'The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!,' a new animated television series airing on the PBS KIDS programming block on KPBS-TV and designed to support science learning for preschoolers. The free event will take place on Monday, September 6 in the Old Globe Theatre. All children in attendance will receive complimentary goody bags and may have their photos taken with The Cat in the Hat himself. The Grinch from the Globe's annual holiday production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will also make a special appearance. The annual holiday musical, directed by James Vasquez with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, will run in the Old Globe Theatre November 20 - December 26. Previews run from Nov. 20 - Nov. 24. Opening night is Nov. 26 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! are currently available to subscribers only. Ticket prices range from $39 to $77 for adults and from $20 to $57 for children. Performances are restricted to children 3 years and up except for the 11:00 a.m. performances for which tickets can be purchased for children of all ages. Duo: 1 Is 1 ; 2 Is Math.' ...The 'I Do I Do' for the new century. The story follows a couple from their first meeting (played by Chicago veterans Suzanne Petri and Roger Anderson) through their marriage. A Union filled with the ups and downs of their relationship as they move through their life together, growing, moving, changing, through difficult times and life's lessons until they discover 'Why We Stuck.' They are funny and moving and human. This sophisticated yet approachable play, directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member, Robert Breuler, is filled with new and affecting music composed by Elizabeth Doyle. 'Duo' is a new work that appeals to everyone from the young couples starting out to couples that are in the middle years-the difficult time in a relationship that is everyday yet long lasting. The story comes alive with insight, intelligence and wit. This is a staged reading and the producers, SuzBo Entertainment welcome suggested donations and feedback is strongly encouraged. Former Ashland Associate Artistic Director Penny Metropulos and veteran performer Joseph Graves will pick up the gauntlet thrown by adaptors Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson and spin the western world's oldest yarn into a freshly riveting tale in An Iliad, launching a thousand ships this Fall in the Ellyn Bye Studio. An Iliad previews on Tuesday September 28th, opens on Friday, October 1st, and runs Tuesday through Sunday through November 21st. Tickets start at $32, with student and under 30 discounts available. Rush tickets are $20. Show times are 7:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday, with a 2:00 pm Sunday matinee and alternating Saturday 2:00 pm and Sunday 7:30 pm performances. New Edgecliff Theatre announced today the cast of The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee Williams, the first show of its 2010-2011 Season.
