Mirren to Join Freeman and Willis in Upcoming 'Red' Film

Stage and screen star Helen Mirren has joined the cast of the upcoming thriller 'Red', Variety reports. Already announced for the cast are Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis. Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Gregory Noveck, and Mark Vahradian, 'Red' is written by Erich and Joe Hoeber and directed by Robert Schwentke. Redgrave to Star in 'Coriolanus' Film; Fiennes to Co-star and Helm

The filming of the Ralph Fiennes helmed 'Coriolanus' will begin next week in Serbia, according to a number of published reports. Vanessa Redgrave will star alongside Fiennes as Volumnia, Coriolanus' mother. The project has been in a standstill for quite some time until producers were finally gathered and a cast put together. Fiennes will direct as well as play the title role in the adaptation by John Logan. (more...)

Michael Riedel reveals this morning that a likely Broadway-bound musical adaptation of Leap of Faith (based off of the 1992 film starring Steve Martin) had an industry reading last week starring Raul Esparza as the preacher, Sutton Foster, and Kendra Kassebaum. The musical workshop, featuring a score by Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermain composer Alan Menken and lryics by Glenn Slater, had Promises, Promises director/choreographer Rob Ashford at the helm.
