Lincoln Center Theater, under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Andre Bishop, has announced that Bianca Amato, Shirine Babb, John Patrick Doherty, Austin Durant, Richard Easton, Francesca Faridany, Stephanie Fieger, Malcolm Gets, John Glover, Ben Horner, Ruy Iskandar, Brian d'Arcy James, Byron Jennings, Aaron Krohn, Jeremiah Maestas, Christopher McHale, Jonny Orsini, Sam Poon, Triney Sandoval, Nathan Stark, Daniel Sunjata, Patrick Vaill, Tyler Lansing Weaks and Derek Wilson will join Ethan Hawke and Anne-Marie Duff in its upcoming production of Shakespeare's MACBETH, directed by Jack O'Brien. The production, which will feature a cast of 27, will begin previews on Thursday, October 24 and open on Thursday, November 21 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). (more...)

Liz McKendry Plays Broadway Legend Fay Templeton in One-Woman Comedy at Cape May Stage Today

New York cabaret performer and musical theater actress Liz McKendry (currently appearing the musical Boeing, Boeing at the Cape May Stage until September 13) has been cast to portray late 19th-early 20th-Century Theater legend Fay Templeton in Up in a Balloon, a one-woman comedy about Templeton's life and career, written by New York actress Karen McDonald. The show, which previously had successful workshops in New York and Toronto, will be performed today, September 1 at 3pm on the Cape May Stage at The Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May, New Jersey. Artists Rep announces Michael Mendelson will step in to play the lead role of Felix Artifex, as Todd Van Voris must leave the production due to a family emergency. Artistic Director Dámaso Rodriguez will now direct Mendelson and guide the show to opening as the production's Associate Director. Originally slated to begin preview performances next Tuesday, September 17, the run dates for Mistakes Were Made will now be pushed back one week. Working under the guidance of renowned New York director Kirsten Kelly, the ensemble members will use their personal perspectives to interpret Shakespeare's story of passion, jealousy, and the ultimate consequences of vengeance. The audience appeared so enthralled by this production that its devastatingly tragic nature seemed to cling to patrons as they exited the theatre. Otello was presented by the Eastern Opera of New Jersey at the Brook Theater in Bound Brook on Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 18th. The opera had the excellent accompaniment of the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey. The performance, directed by Karole Lewis, was beautifully staged and a complete pleasure for the audience. The simple set, also designed by Lewis, was well utilized, versatile and served as an excellent backdrop for the opera. (more...)

In this sexy musical revue, three superb male singers perform an anthology of Bennett's best work - from 'Rags to Riches' to 'Put On a Happy Face' to the title track and many more - celebrating more than six decades of remarkable music in this swingin' walk down memory lane. David Grapes and Todd Olson are co-creators for the production; Todd Olson will also be directing The Rep's production. Original piano and vocal arrangements for I Left My Heart are by Vince di Mura. The cast features singers Eric Jon Mahlum, Andrew McMath and Rob Tucker, all making their Rep debuts, and Richard Carsey, well-known to Milwaukee audiences from his years with Skylight Music Theatre, will accompany them on piano.
