On Thursday, October 27, Emory University's Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will come together for 'A Family Affair.' The event, chaired by Madeline and Howell Adams, will feature dinner and a concert. Led by Music Director Robert Spano, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform the U.S. premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's Nyx in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Sinbad will perform a one-night only stand-up event at The Grove Theatre in Sinbad - Laughter is the Best Medicine. Produced by Robert Sarzo of SARZO Management Group, this special event will benefit the Be Aware Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Group. Sinbad redefined stand-up comedy and turned it into A Family Affair. Sinbad with his wit and humor will take us away for a night of laughs and stories from his extensive career in comedy as we pay tribute to women and everyone who has been touched by breast cancer. Broadway, Film and TV performer, and recently turned teenager Melody Hollis will perform her cabaret show Welcome To Melodyland at the newly opened Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal. Melody is one of the youngest singers ever to perform a solo one- (not quite a) woman show, which recently won critical acclaim at Vitello's nightclub in Studio City. (more...)
