Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces the Boston Ballet presentation of the beloved fairytale The Sleeping Beauty by Marius Petipa with additional choreography by Sir Frederick Ashton. The Greek National Opera (GNO) presents leading French director Olivier Py's new production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, following his acclaimed production of Berg's Wozzeck at GNO in 2020. Olivier Py, who has directed more than 40 operas around the world, embarks on his first staging of Madama Butterfly with a production that places the orchestra onstage and fills the outdoor venue with the aesthetics and colors of America and Japan.

The Greek National Opera has announced its events honoring Maria Callas, the greatest soprano of the 20th century with a series of tributes curated by the Artistic Director of the Greek National Opera Giorgos Koumendakis, taking place from April to December 2023.

And no small part of those tales is the fabulous William F. Brown and Charlie Smalls, Tony Award winning musical, “The Wiz” from 1974. And now the 5th Avenue Theatre has brought this green gem to vivid life with their current delightful production.

Based on the book by Craig Lucas and inspired by the seven-time Academy Award-winning 1952 musical comedy film, An American in Paris brings the legendary music of George and Ira Gershwin to the stage from August 3rd -13th. Featuring such classics as “I Got Rhythm,” “S’Wonderful” and “Shall We Dance”, this marks the show’s debut performance on a Cape Cod theater’s stage. With a timeless story and unforgettable characters, audiences have something quite special to look forward to this August.

Hamlet-911, a brand new play by famed Canadian author Ann-Marie MacDonald, begins previews at the Stratford Festival’s Studio Theatre on Thursday, July 28.
