It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview has officially won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre has announced a seven show theatrical season for 2019 that includes the return of the popular Murder! at The Strand franchise, national touring show Little Black Dress, and the internationally touring star of stage and screen Ed Asner in his one man show A Man and His Prostate.

JoJo Smith, known as 'The King of New York' for his extensive contributions to Broadway and the dance industry, has died. He was 80.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) has announced casting for their upcoming production of the classic comedy You Can't Take it With You. The cast will feature Equity actor Andrew Scott Holmes as Ed Carmichael. Holmes starred in FPAC's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat last season. He has traveled the world working in regional theatre and cruise ships alike.

Ballet Sun Valley announces today that it will present the internationally acclaimed San Francisco Ballet led by Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson, July 5 and 7, 2019, in the Sun Valley Pavilion. This much anticipated weekend of dance will also feature an Education Program, that was developed to inspire and teach all levels of ballet to young students from around the country.

The characters in The Addams Family were created by American cartoonist Charles Addams. The characters traditionally include Gomez and Morticia Addams, their children Wednesday and Pugsley, close family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama, their butler Lurch, the disembodied hand Thing, and Gomez's Cousin Itt. The characters are a satirical inversion of the ideal American family: odd, wealthy, macabre and unaware that other people find them, at the very least, bizarre. They originally appeared as single-panel cartoons, about half of which were originally published in The New Yorker between their debut in 1938 and Charles Addams' death in 1988. They've been adapted to multiple forms of media: television, both live action and animated, and a series of films. The most recent adaptation is the musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY with a book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, Music & Lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

As Artistic Director, curator, and performer, Ulbricht brings a unique vision and perspective to performance. Los Altos Hills will be alive with The Sound of Music this summer, when multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award-winning musical. This beloved musical, set in Austria in 1938, follows novice Maria Rainer who becomes the governess for the von Trapp family, capturing the hearts of the seven children and their father, a widowed naval captain. As the Nazis occupy Austria, the family is forced make decisions which forever change their lives, fleeing their home in pursuit of freedom. Director Milissa Carey, music director William Liberatore, and choreographers Brett and C.J. Blankenship breathe new life into this classic tale of hope, love, and family. The Sound of Music will play July 19- August 5, 2018(press opening: July 20) at the Smithwick Theatre, I-280 & El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents the first-ever revival of a historical melodrama about the Haitian revolution that graced the stage at New York's Lafayette Theatre in Harlem in 1938 as part of the Federal Theatre Project. Haiti by William DuBois will join Theatricum's summer repertory season beginning July 28. Performances will continue at Theatricum's beautiful outdoor venue in Topanga through Sept. 29.

A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.
