Robert Nederlander, Jr., a third generation member of the Nederlander theater dynasty, and Richard Eisenberg, a prominent Long Island attorney and arts philanthropist, have joined the Board of Trustees of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned Long Island not-for-profit summer arts day camp. Usdan Center (www.usdan.com), now in its 46th season, has introduced the arts to more than 60,000 children ages 6 to 18, and counts among its alumni Natalie Portman, Jane Monheit, Mariah Carey, Olivia Thirlby, Seth Rudetsky, Jackie Hoffman, Lisa Gay Hamiltonand members of major music and dance ensembles. Grex Group Theatre produces Eugene O'Neill's rarely done, 100 year old, one-act play, Thirst, just blocks from where Mr. O'Neill was born in New York City. Three passengers from a sunken ocean liner are stranded on a life raft, afloat in the crisp open waters, among the circling sharks as the sun relentlessly beats down. These people are very different, and they are the same. They want to survive. But at what cost? Thirst, Eugene O'Neill's harrowing play, is a not-to-be-missed drama that will force you to think about human nature and the passion we all have inside. Jason Robards Portrait Unveiled at Westport Country Playhouse

Westport Country Playhouse hosted an unveiling of a portrait of the late actor Jason Robards, for whom the theater is named, on Tuesday, July 9. The portrait depicts Robards in the role of Cornelius Melody in 'A Touch of the Poet' by Eugene O'Neill. Donated to the Playhouse by Robards's children, Jake and Shannon, it is displayed in the Playhouse lobby. The portrait artist is Clyde Smith of Silvermine Arts Center.
