Craft Recordings is proud to announce the forthcoming release of The Spirit of Memphis (1962-1976), chronicling the ascension of one of the most influential creative talents in music history, Isaac Hayes, who would have turned 75 this year.

"I will have poetry in my life.  And adventure.  And love. Love above all." The Cleveland Play House produces the Academy Award-winning romantic comedy Shakespeare in Love, complete with swordfights, secret trysts, and backstage drama.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

Grammy and Tony-Award winner Heather Headley will perform a new arrangement of the Elvis Presley hit 'If I Can Dream' on Macy's 41st Annual 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS. Headley most recently appeared on Broadway in THE COLOR PURPLE.

In collaboration with Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra offers a free performance in honor of American service men and woman. "In Honor of Service - An Americana Concert" is Today, June 30 at 7 p.m. at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland.

Seminal British folk rock band Fairport Convention's 50 th anniversary will be celebrated on July 28 with two exciting releases via A&M/UMe a lavish 7CD box set chronicling their extraordinary first decade entitled, Come All Ye The First Ten Years, and a 180-gram vinyl reissue of their influential classic album, Liege & Lief. Both releases are available for pre-order now.

It's May 8, 2017 and I'm sitting in the National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts' quaint auditorium in Upper Manhattan, waiting for the students to take the stage. As part of the celebrated Art Nest series, this evening's mixed medium program centers on the loneliest woman in mythology: Medusa. But as the audience quiets for NDI Founder Jacques d'Amboise's speech, it is exactly the opposite feelings of community and togetherness that drum up pure joy.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the world premiere production ofPass Over by Antoinette Nwandu, directed by Danya Taymor. Music Director Manfred Honeck leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, guest vocalists and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh in Gustav Mahler's groundbreaking Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection," as part of the BNY Mellon Grand Classics at Heinz Hall on June 2-4.

Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have optioned the rights to 11 books from acclaimed author Anne Rice's best-selling series, THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES.

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).

"Talk About Things You'd Like To Do"……. Will Hammerstein, grandson of Oscar ll talked about "How You Gonna Make That Dream Come True" on the Joey Reynolds radio program last night and BroadwayWorld was there. 

Though all of Harvey Granat's midday events are illuminating and entertaining, his most recent SONGS AND STORIES on March 16 at 92Y could've easily continued at least another half hour buoyed by audience enthusiasm. The event's special guests, author/producer/journalist Will Friedwald (who has his own 92Y series), and President of Jimmy Van Heusen's catalog, his great nephew, Brook Babcock, were both knowledgeable, engaging raconteurs. It was also a great pleasure to watch the two men join infectiously enjoying the afternoon.
