The Jewish Museum's popular SummerNights concert series concludes with One Ring Zero on July 26. The band performs unique Balkan-inspired sounds, including songs with lyrics by Paul Auster, Margaret Atwood, and other writers. DOORS OPEN AT 7 PM. THE CONCERT BEGINS AT 7:30 PM. Happy Birthday Claude-Michel Schönberg! Schönberg is best known for his collaborations with the lyricist Alain Boublil. Thier stage musical version of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, which opened at the Palais de Sports in Paris in 1980, opened to acclaim in London in 1985 and on Broadway in 1987. In 1989, their success continued with the musical Miss Saigon, which starred Lea Salonga and Jonathan Pryce. Schönberg's next project with Boublil was The Pirate Queen, a musical about the 16th century Irish pirate, chieftain and adventuress Grace O'Malley, which opened on Broadway on April 5 2007. Ben Cross, Nigel Havers, Nicholas Farrell and Alice Krige, stars of the original 1981 film Chariots of Fire, made a surprise visit to the Gielgud Theatre last night, July 10, to meet with the actors currently performing in Edward Hall's five star stage production of the same name. The stage cast, led by James McArdle, Jack Lowden, Tam Williams, Mark Edel-Hunt and Savannah Stevenson were introduced to their film character counterparts and to an excited audience at the Gielgud Theatre. Peter Karrie represented the United Kingdom at the 33rd Annual Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the world's largest annual indoor show, in Halifax, NS, Canada this past week. The event celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, commemorated the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and paid tribute to the loss of the RMS Titanic and the role Halifax played in the disaster in 1912. Karrie was joined joined by fellow Canadian and soprano, Brenna Conrad. Known as the world's most popular Phantom, Karrie has performed the role over 2,700 times around the world in Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. See photos of Karrie performing below!
