Park Avenue Armory Hosts Additional Concert as Part of Tune-In Music Fest

Park Avenue Armory has announced an additional concert in the line-up for its second Tune-In Music Festival, featuring four artists whose critical thinking and output have influenced and been influenced by Philip Glass and whose eclectic offerings represent a wide range of musical styles and genres. The Armory's Tune-In Music Festival will be held February 23-26, 2012, featuring and co-curated by the iconic composer Philip Glass on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The Armory's soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall, with its cathedral-like acoustics and informal character, will set the scene for a concert environment that is at once both immersive and intimate, erasing the confines and eliminating the formalities of traditional concert halls. Park Avenue Armory Announces First Full Season of Artistic Programming

Park Avenue Armory announced its first full season of cultural programming, comprising productions of visual art, dance, theater and music that are conceived and performed 'outside the box' of conventional theaters and museums. Dedicated to presenting works that cannot be realized in traditional institutions, Park Avenue Armory's season will include monumental, immersive installations by visual artists Peter Greenaway and Ryoji Ikeda; Tune-In, a contemporary music festival featuring new music ensembles curated by and including eighth blackbird, the New York premier of Inuksuit by John Luther Adams and a new site-specific commission by Sympho; a six-week residency by the Royal Shakespeare Company in a full-scale Shakespearean theater built inside the Drill Hall; and free-form performances by Shen Wei Dance Arts, Streb, and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. With its soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall and array of dramatic period rooms, the Armory's unique spaces enable artists to create-and the public to experience- unconventional work in all genres that could not be realized elsewhere in New York City. Columbia Records in partnership with FX and Twentieth Century Fox Television will release the soundtrack to FX's highest rated series, SONS OF ANARCHY. The soundtrack, Songs of Anarchy: Music from SONS OF ANARCHY Seasons 1-4 , features a collection of fifteen new recordings, specifically for the show, of classic tunes such as 'What A Wonderful World', 'Forever Young' and 'John The Revelator'. Immediate Medium returns to Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center during the 2012 APAP Conference with The Assassins Chase Pinocchio, an experimental multimedia adaptation of Carlo Collodi's original 1883 coming-of-age tale, The Adventures of Pinocchio. Featuring a 20-foot shark's mouth created using only a video camera and a zipper, an anarchic children's dance party on the Island of Crazy Sweet Candy Chaos, and a psychedelic soundtrack by indie rockers Alex Bleeker of Real Estate (Best Albums of October 2011, BBC Music) and G. Lucas Crane of Woods (Best New Music, Pitchfork), the show uses a playful mix of physical comedy and experimental theater techniques to introduce Immediate Medium's interdisciplinary aesthetic to a new, yet very avant-garde audience: children. Performances will take place at Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center, 107 Suffolk Street, New York, N.Y., on Friday, January 6 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8 at 2pm and 5pm.
