Carnegie Hall today announced that pianist Paul Lewis, who was scheduled to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37 with Music Director Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m., must regrettably cancel his performances with the BSO and Mr. Nelsons in Boston and New York on his doctors' advice due to recovery from a recent surgery. Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players to Open Groundbreaking Series at City Winery, 10/25

Following the success of its first series at City Winery in the 2014-15 season, cp2 (Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players) returns to the venue for a fall series pairing unique mixed instrumental groups with vocalists. Three one-hour programs at noon on October 25, November 22, and December 20 each feature a different singer showcasing styles including classical, soul, and jazz. The Aviva Players will begin its 40th season on October 16 with 'Songs, Piano Rags & Chamber Music by Women Composers, including the Piano Trio by Fanny Mendelssohn,' the first installment of a three-part concert series at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave.  The concert will include piano rags by May Frances Aufderheide, Irene Giblin and Adeline Shepard; songs by Mira J.
