TUTS Reveals 2014 Tommy Tune Award Nominees

John C. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' 12th annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Developed by TUTS, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. Co-hosts for the award ceremony include Jim Bernhard and Sarah Pepper. Bernhard has written several original productions that have debuted at TUTS and authored the theatrical history Stars in Your Eyes. Pepper is the morning host of The Hot Show on HOT 95.7 FM.

Fathom Events, National Theatre Live (NT Live) and BY Experience have come together again to broadcast the National Theatre's original stage production of 'War Horse,' pre-recorded live from London's West End, for only one night in cinemas across the country on Thursday, February 27. For the first time ever, a broadcast from National Theatre Live will be shown at New York City's legendary Ziegfeld Theatre (141 West 54th Street) on February 27th at 7:00 p.m. The broadcast can also be seen in New York at Cinema 123 (1001 3rd Avenue) with encore dates/times to follow.

Museum of the Moving Image, working with a longtime Museum member, will present a rare big-screen showing of the 2007 Western The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell, and Sam Shepard, with director Andrew Dominik in person. Arguably a cult favorite since its release, this masterful and magisterial film was described by Star-Ledger critic Stephen Whitty as an 'epic film that's part literary treatise, part mournful ballad, and completely a portrait of our world, as seen in a distant mirror.' The screening tonight, December 7, at 6:00 p.m. will take place in the Museum's Sumner Redstone Theater, with the post-film conversation moderated by Chief Curator David Schwartz.
