Directed by Donnie Kehr, ROCKERS ON BROADWAY-Dance Party featured some of the hottest dance tunes from Elvis to GaGa, performed by Broadway stars and the Rock stars who made them famous. Additionally, Natasha Bedingfield, a member of the VH1 Save The Music Alumni Ambassador Group, is scheduled to perform and the program for the evening, presented by LG Mobile Phones, will celebrate music as a universal language that shapes our life stories and include a special tribute to the 45th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music by Kristin Chenoweth. The only press night offered for the Public LAB's premiere production of playwright/director Richard Nelson's That Hopey Changey Thing was this past Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010 at 7pm. Given that the play actually takes place on Tuesday. November 2nd, 2010 at 7pm (America's Election Night, for my plethora of foreign readers) I was rather hopey that the text might, in fact, wind up being changey, depending on the news of returns coming in during the play's 90 minutes. No such luck. But even in its frozen state, the piece is sharp, engrossing and superbly acted. (more...)

Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan, the Empire State building is the 'World's Most Famous Office Building.' The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical theatre star Sutton Foster will perform her one-woman cabaret 'An Evening with Sutton Foster' on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 7:30pm at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA as a benefit for the Huntington Theatre Company. Tickets for An Evening with Sutton Foster begin at $150. The performance will be preceded by intimate pre-show dinners at South End restaurants and private homes, and will be followed by a VIP Post-Show Cast Party with Sutton and Friends. Tickets for the pre-show dinner and the performance cost $250; tickets for all three events are $350. Sure, in America the guilty have just as much a right to a fair trial as the innocent. But when someone you believe is guilty doesn't get one, is that a wrong you can be all that enthused about righting? That's one of the discussion points that might be mulled over by leftist radicals downing shots of vodka after taking in Amy Herzog's After The Revolution. Unfortunately, this tantalizing moral dilemma is regulated to a throwaway point in a play that teases us with its political content while contenting itself with being a rather formulaic family drama. It's a good one, for sure; well-written (despite an unsatisfying ending) with absorbing conflicts and director Carolyn Cantor's excellent cast is always engaging, but every so often the play remindsus of an interesting direction the author decided not to take. Today, lead producers Margo Lion and Hal Luftig announced the complete cast for the new Broadway musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz will star as Carl Hanratty and Aaron Tveit will star as Frank Abagnale, Jr. alongside Tony Nominee Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale, Sr. and Tony Nominee Kerry Butler as Brenda Strong. CATCH ME IF YOU CAN will open on Broadway on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at The Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52nd Street. This new musical, created by a team of Tony winners, features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, choreography by Jerry Mitchell and is directed by Jack O'Brien.
