The Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance and Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre will present a free concert A Magical Musical Adventure on Sunday, July 20 at 7 pm, on the Knight Stage at Middletown High School. Forty-one local dancers ranging in age from 3 to 18 will perform together to raise money for Team Sydni. The concert features many of well-loved fairy tale characters, and includes a variety of song-and-dance styles. There is no charge for admission. Free-will donations will be accepted at the door, and during intermission the dancers' parents have organized a basket raffle, which includes donations from many Middletown merchants in an effort to further help Sydni. This is the second annual summer production of the Dee Buchanan Studio and Way Off Broadway. Last year's concert raised over $2,600 to help another local student, TJ Rufty. (more...)

Toulouse: A New Musical has a score composed by Walker, with a book by John David Nelson, and lyrics by both Walker and Nelson. Paige Faure and Adam Monley can now officially be considered Broadway Royalty. Paige currently dons the coveted glass slippers as the title role in Cinderella, and while she is playing Princess, Adam is at the Imperial Theatre, where he just concluded his limited run as Javert in Les Miserables. Together they have accrued over five Broadway credits including Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway and the international sensation Mamma Mia! Together they are taking Broadway's most popular shows by storm, and we don't see them slowing down anytime soon! Rubicon's Summer Youth Program presents The Drowsy Chaperone, the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison based on a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. With direction by Brian McDonald, musical direction by Miriam Arichea and choreography by Carolanne Marano, The Drowsy Chaperone features over 25 local youth performers in a production well suited for children, adults and families. Opening Wednesday, August 13th and running through Saturday, August 16th, performances of The Drowsy Chaperone begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and continue 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of the previously announced Tim Realbuto/Jenna Leigh Green songwriting competition are Nathan Brisby and Lizzie Hagstedt, who wrote the original winning piece entitled Mesa Song. As part of their prize, they both received free tickets to Realbuto's star- studded 54 Below show last week, a chance to hear Mr. Realbuto and Ms. Green sing their original song in front of a live audience at 54 Below, as well as a meet and greet with Jenna and Tim after the show in the upstairs greenroom.
