Next up for Jocelyn is a role in Blackbird Theatre Company's world premiere of their original musical Myth, written by Greg Greene and Wes Driver. On May 2, High Schools from around the state competed in the first-ever ASU Gammage High School Musical Theater Awards performing numbers from their spring musicals on the ASU Gammage stage. In addition, a panel of judges selected winners in the following categories: Best Overall Performance, Best Lead Male, Best Lead Female, Outstanding Supporting Performance, Best Dancer, Honorable Mention, Outstanding Technical Achievement. Two graduating seniors who exemplify leadership on the stage, in their community and in their schools also won $500 scholarships to use towards furthering their education. (more...)

The Muny announced today the complete cast for its production of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn. Based on the 1942 film, Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin with a book by Gordon Greenberg and Chad Hodge. Greenberg will direct the Muny production with choreography by Denis Jones. Musical direction is by James Moore, vocal and dance arrangements are by Sam Davis with additional arrangements by Bruce Pomahac, and orchestrations by Larry Blank. The Muny's production of Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn is its second production worldwide. (more...)

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins May 19 at the Marcus Center in Milwaukee and plays a limited two- week engagement through May 31. In Milwaukee, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available at $25 a piece. Entry forms will be available two and half hours prior to each performance in the Marcus Center Box Office Lobby at 929 North Water Street. X Factor star, Amelia Lily (playing Whatshername), will star in Green Day's explosive, award-winning Broadway musical American Idiot, as it blasts into the UK for its West End premiere from the 17 July at The Arts Theatre, Leicester Square. Running until 27 September 2015, with press night on 22 July, American Idiot - The Musical features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer. The musical is being directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, with sound by Chris Whybrow, design by Sara Perks and lighting by Tim Deiling. Further casting will be announced in due course. Today in 2002, The Drowsy Chaperone opened at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 674 performances. The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison. It is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. The story concerns a middle-aged, antisocial musical theatre fan; as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone, the show comes to life onstage as he wryly comments on the music, story, and actors. The show won the Tony Award for Best Book and Best Score. The show has had major productions in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, London, and Japan, as well as two North American tours. (more...)
