Theatre Exile opens their 2013/14 season with the Philadelphia premiere of Cock, the Laurence Olivier Award-winning play by British playwright Mike Bartlett. Directed by Exile's Producing Artistic Director Deborah Block and starring Wes Haskell with John Jarboe, Mary Tuomanen and Benjamin Lovell, Cock runs October 17 - November 10. The play unfolds on an intimate, bare bones stage that removes the boundaries between actors and audience at Studio X in South Philadelphia.
GIBSON GUITARTOWN ON THE SUNSET STRIP is set to unveil its third installment of art guitars on Wednesday, July 17 at aspecial VIP reception at Hornburg Land Rover on The Sunset Strip. The Public Theater announced today that Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare has been cast as The Baker in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. INTO THE WOODS will be O'Hare's Shakespeare in the Park debut. The New York Times is reporting that EVITA is officially set for a Spring 2012 revival, produced by Hal Luftig and Scott Sanders, directed by Michael Grandage (who directed the recent London revival) and starring Elena Roger and Ricky Martin.
Two of Britain's most innovative and acclaimed performers will bring their very different styles to the Café Carlyle later this month. Beloved star of stage and screen, John Standing, will make his Café Carlyle debut with his one-man show, 'Performing Noël Coward' from February 23 through March 6. London singing sensation Barb Jungr is returning to the legendary venue with an all new show. 'River' will play six (6) performances only from February 25 to March 6, and will launch a new series of late-night shows designed to provide an attractive new entertainment option for the Café Carlyle's sophisticated clientele.
