Cameron Mathison ('All My Children,' 'Good Morning America') made his Broadway debut on Wednesday, November 2 in a cameo role in Mary Poppins at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Mathison's performance will be shown as a part of a special 'Good Morning America' segment celebrating the 5th anniversary of Mary Poppins on Broadway, airing Monday, November 7th at 7AM on ABC (schedule subject to change), in which he becomes the first non-cast member in the show's 7 year history to attempt Bert's 'proscenium walk.' Following the performance, Mathison, Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins), and Case Dillard (Bert at that evening's performance) were greeted backstage by Mathison's former 'All My Children' co-star, Susan Lucci. The Broadway musical Mary Poppins will be featured on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' with host Meredith Vieira during a special Broadway themed week of episodes airing November 7-11, 2011. The Mary Poppins cast will help kick off the specialty week as contestants on the show, donating their winnings to The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that helps professionals in performing arts and entertainment in times of need, crisis or transition. Throughout the week on 'Millionaire,' each contestant will be asked one Broadway-themed question. If they answer correctly, they win tickets to a Broadway show for themselves as well as members of the studio audience. (more...)
