René Magritte, the playful and provocative Belgian Surrealist who set out to create works that would 'challenge the real world' by making 'everyday objects shriek out loud,' is the focus of a major exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago: Magritte, The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938. The show opens June 24, 2014 and runs through October 13, 2014 in Regenstein Hall. A collaborative effort between three museums, the exhibition will make its final stop at the Art Institute following its premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in New York on September 28, 2013 and its current run at the Menil Collection, Houston. American Theater Company announces a new partnership with The Araca Group (Broadway producers of Urinetown, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, The Wedding Singer, Lend Me a Tenor, and A View From the Bridge, among others) in the development of new American plays in Chicago. The two organizations will partner to produce AracaWorks: Chicago, a weekend of readings of world premiere American plays from August 7-9, 2014 in Chicago. ESPN's presentation of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Frozen Four - two semifinals on Thursday, April 10 on ESPN2 and the championship game on Saturday, April 12 on ESPN - averaged 471,000 viewers, a strong 56 percent increase over the 2013 Men's Frozen Four (301,000 viewers). The Frozen Four Championship Game, in which Union College defeated the University of Minnesota for its first NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey National Championship, averaged 717,000 viewers, a 33 percent increase over 2013's Division I Frozen Four Championship Game which featured Yale defeating Quinnipiac (539,000).
