Based on the novel by Mary Hayley Bell
Based on the film by Bryan Forbes

This adaptation of Mary Hayley Bell's celebrated novel and its film incarnation (which starred the author's daughter, Hayley Mills, and Alan Bates) was an absolute triumph in its English stage premiere and subsequent presentation at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival. We are extremely proud to announce its availability for production in the U.S. and Canada. When three rural children discover a wounded fugitive hiding in their barn, they believe him to be Jesus Christ. In a vow of secrecy, the village children harbor the stranger. When he is ultimately betrayed, the adults rush to 'save' their children with sorrowful consequences. A parable about faith, conviction and the fragile optimism of youth, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND is a musical that soars with human spirit.

Sweet Spoonful of Sugar MARY POPPINS Comes to Detroit October 23-28
by Anton Anderssen - Oct 19, 2012

My distant cousin Walter Elias 'Walt' Disney had a knack for turning everything into perfection, or at least practically perfect in every way. He took the mean, cranky nanny from P.L. Travers' book "Mary Poppins" and turned her into a saint. He excised two of the four Banks children, allowing the cutest ones to remain in the story. Travers' nanny couldn't dance on rooftops, didn't have adventures with Bert, didn't win at the horse races and couldn't sing. Travers was Australian; they take pride in being able to endure aggressive crocodiles, harsh deserts and appalling alloparenting. For those of us in the northern hemisphere who prefer our protagonists to be a bit on the spoonful of sugar side, Disney's Mary Poppins is just the ticket. (more...)

Tracing his journey with the Biblically-themed musical from the hallowed grounds of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada - where he first made his mark on the theatre world with his acting of another iconic Lloyd Webber/Rice anti-hero, Che in EVITA; as well as THE GRAPES OF WRATH - all the way to La Jolla in California, and, now, to eight performances a week on the Great White Way, Young shares his overflowing enthusiasm for the theatrical form and details his life as a performer; a veritable dream come true for the self-proclaimed Broadway baby. In addition to all about his perspective on Judas and his thoughts on the daring and innovative SUPERSTAR, Young also describes working with Tony-winning director Des McAnuff and how his training at the Royal Shakespeare Festival has prepared him for the rigors of a Broadway hit. Plus, Young looks back on past performances and his favorite roles to date as well as shines a light on some of the parts he would consider taking on in the future, both near and far. Plus, Young reacts to his Tony Award nomination, fills us in on genesis of the many new lyrics for the heavenly SUPERSTAR revival, shares thoughts on GLEE, SMASH and much, much more! (more...)
