WHITE NOISE Opens Tonight at Theater for the New City

'White Noise' is the first play by Washington, DC artist Tom Block ( It depicts a philosophical artist who travels to Detroit for an exhibit, where he is hosted by an aging, bickering couple who are wealthy, stingy and tormented. The play painstakingly explores Block's own thought process. Its set is a 25 foot long mural by Block which is based on a 13th century Sufi tract, 'The Conference of the Birds' by Attar, which also represents the psyche of the main character. The play raises questions of mysticism and the application of spirituality in our lives. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., NYC, will present the work's New York debut tonight, June 27 to July 14. Moema Umann directs. Block is a well-known painter, human right activist and author of two books, 'Shalom/Salaam: A Story of a Mystical Fraternity' and 'A Fatal Addiction: War in the Name of God.' (more...)

The musical revue features a star studded cast including Michelle Aravena, Janine DiVita, Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt,David Josefsberg, and Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner with direction by Don Stephenson. With stunning images of space from NASA projected on the big screen to complement Holst's sweeping music, this event is sure to inspire awe in both the magnificence of the universe and the wonder of music. Led by Guest Conductor Case Scaglione, assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic and winner of the Conductor's Prize by the Solti Foundation U.S., this majestic composition follows works by the beloved Mozart, beginning with his energetic Overture to "The Magic Flute." J.R. Sullivan to Step Down as Artistic Director of The Pearl Theatre

Following four successful years as The Pearl Theatre Company's Artistic Director, J.R. Sullivan has decided to step down on July 19th. Sullivan will relocate his career base to Chicago, where he will be getting married this fall, and will return to freelance directing, as well as writing and teaching. The Pearl's Board of Trustees has accepted Sullivan's decision with regret and has launched a search for a new Artistic Director to lead the Company into its fourth decade. Longtime Pearl staff member and dramaturg Kate Farrington has been appointed Interim Artistic Director. (more...)

MadLab is a non-profit organization that provides an artistic haven for the creation and experience of original works. Wii U Tour Gives Chicago Residents Hands-On Time with the Hottest Nintendo Games

Nintendo is bringing its Wii U console to Navy Pier in Chicago as part of a six-city tour to give people a chance to experience second-screen gaming for themselves. The tour is free and open to the public, and will include hands-on time with a wide selection of Wii U games, including Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros.
