Chicago, Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Chicago-area home buyers didn't let the holiday season distract them from purchasing a new home. RE/MAX reports that during the final month of 2013, home sales in the seven-county metro Chicago real estate market totaled 8,053 units, 9 percent more than during the same month last year, while the median sales price was $178,000, an impressive 17 percent higher than inDecember 2012. The 44th Season of Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS) continues with a February 8, 2014 concert inspired by the human spirit. Guest conductor Stilian Kirov, associate conductor of the Seattle Symphony, conducts this evening concert, Friendship and Imagination. It includes The Enchanted Lake by Russian composer Anatoly Liadov, Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op 64 byFelix Mendelssohn and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky with orchestrations by Maurice Ravel. Elisa Barston, principal second violinist of the Seattle Symphony is the guest soloist for the evening. (more...)

Battleme is set to release his new full-length studio album – Future Runs Magnetic – on March 11th on El Camino Media. The new album was produced by Doug Boehm (Girls, Guided by Voices) and is the follow up to his 2012 self-titled debut. A week after the album drops, Battleme will be joining up with the Toadies as they hit the road for their Rubberneck 20-year anniversary tour. Kicking off at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, AZ on March 19th, the tour will have the two bands hitting legendary venues across the US including the Troubadour in LA, First Avenue in Minneapolis, the Metro in Chicago, Irving Plaza in NYC and the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philly. This will be the first major US tour for Battleme. (more...)

The cast includes Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Tosin Morohunfola, Ernest Perry, Jr. and Jacqueline Williams. Strawdog Theatre Company and Interim Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced the third production in their 2013 - 2014 season, the world premiere of Philip Dawkins' Miss Marx: or The Involuntary Side Effect of Living directed by Megan Shuchman, Strawdog Theatre Company is located at 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Fridays, Feb. 14 and Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. There is a Board Preview performance, Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception.
