The company that brought you Last Summer at Bluefish Cove and Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, which played to sold-out houses, presents The Torch-Bearers by George Kelly. Opening December 3rd and running through December 18th, The Torch-Bearers has been called the grandfather to zany comedies Noises Off and Waiting for Guffman. This send-up of community theatre is a catharsis for anyone who has ever sat through a terrible play produced by people with delusions of grandeur. Featuring some of Seattle's most wicked talent, The Torch-Bearers will leave you weeping with delight.

Written in 1922, The Torch-Bearers took Broadway by storm and marked Grace Kelly's (the author's niece) debut at the Bucks Country Playhouse in 1949. This backstage satire was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning George Kelly, author of a series of hit social satires in the 1920s.

"And you thought bungee jumping was dangerous - just try participating in community theatre!... Surprisingly delightful! ... A hit!"  NY Times"all the characters are what make Woman Seeking's production such a delight, and what a charming, loopy, endearing bunch they are.  And Woman Seeking... is to be praised for playing it with all the affection it deserves."  OOBR: Off Off Broadway Review

Featuring a cast of 8 women and 4 men - including Eleanor Moseley, Laurie Bialik, Kate Szyperski, Rebecca Olson, Larry Albert and Richard Nguyen Sloniker - directed by Christine Mosere, The Torch-Bearers will play a limited three-week engagement at the Richard Hugo House Theatre (1634 11th Ave, Seattle WA 98122). Performances begin on December 3rd at 7pm with an opening night benefit performance with all proceeds going to The Ruby Room, a nonprofit organization that provides formal gowns to Seattle area high school girls who are unable to purchase their own dance attire.
