Whidbey Island Center for the Arts Theatre Series presents Becky's New Car, a play by Steven Dietz, opening October 12 and running through October 27, 2012. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm, directed by Deana Duncan.

Playwright Steven Dietz maps out a very funny and touching play about "the life not taken." Becky is married, late 40's, and working at a car dealership. When one night, by chance, she's offered an opportunity to step into another life-she takes it-and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn't dare. Becky's New Car is about life, love, marriage, and the detours we make on the way to happiness; it's a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

The Becky's New Car cast includes Suzanne Kellman as Becky; Tom Harris as Joe; Jeff Riggs as Chris; Phil Jordan as Walter; Athena Michaelides as Kenni; Patricia Duff as Ginger; Eric Mulholland and Michael Morgen double cast as Steve.

Becky's New Car is directed by Deana Duncan, who was lucky enough to study directing with Tony Nominated Bartlett Sher at Freehold Studio in Seattle for two full seasons. Just hitting 12 years as Producing/Programming Director at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, Duncan has directed Nevermore, An Evening with Poe, Little Women, and Sweeney Todd for the WICA Mainstage Theatre Series and directed numerous summer youth plays for WICA, including The Wrestling Season, Shakespeare!, Nosfortu-The Legend of Dracula, Tale of Two Cities, and most recently Fantastic Mr. Fox. Regional Directing credits include work with Nevada Repertory Company, Reno Little Theatre, and the International Mystery Writers Festival in Owensbury, Kentucky. Duncan holds a Masters in Non-Profit Leadership from Seattle University, a BFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Nevada Reno; she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Stella Adler Conservatory in Los Angeles. Deana is thrilled to have been asked to direct King Lear for Island Shakespeare Festival in the summer of 2013.

Becky's New Car plays October 12 – 27, 2012, Fri & Sat @ 7.30 PM; Sun @ 2 PM at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, located at 565 Camano Ave., Langley, Washington.

On Sunday, October 14, 2012, 4:15 pm there will be a Talk Back with Director Deana Duncan after the matinee.
