Beijing meets Seattle at A Glimpse of China - Chinese Culture and Arts Festival, part of the Seattle Center Festál series of ethnic cultural festivals, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., today, May 17, at Seattle Center Armory. The festival highlights traditions covering 5,000 years of Chinese history and showcases their distinct culture to foster understanding, respect and appreciation of Chinese history.

The all-day event, featuring over 15 Chinese artists, delights with music, dance, Wushu and Taiqi demonstrations, a film screening and interactive Chinese calligraphy. The public is invited to participate in cooking demonstrations, sample traditional foods and teas and explore vendor booths with Chinese arts and crafts on display and for purchase. Children may take part in painting and language workshops and other creative activities just for them.

A Glimpse of China - Chinese Culture and Arts Festival is presented by the Washington Chinese Art & Culture Committee (WCACC) in partnership with Seattle Center Festál. WCACC strives to foster understanding, friendship and opportunities between local Chinese and American communities, and between China and America through art, cultural events and other exchange activities.
