Reboot Theatre Company celebrates a watershed year after mounting two successful productions, the Seattle premiere of the musical Fly By Night and the nation's first genderqueer production of Private Lives by Noel Coward. Reboot also qualified for non-profit status and secured a $500 grant through the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.

Spurred on by these accomplishments, Reboot Theatre Company is announcing its fundraising goal of $5,500 by the end of 2017 with the hope of presenting a larger scale production, pay bigger stipends to artists, and reach wider audiences with a production in spring of 2018. As a part of this effort, Reboot is proud to unveil Reboot U, a series of introductory performance and audition classes aimed at attracting new people to the Seattle theatre talent pool and also helping artists wanting to reboot their artistic representation.

Classes will include Working with Text, Song Selection, and Intro to Musical Theatre Dance workshops culminating in an audition panel with NY director Scot Charles Anderson (Seattle Musical Theatre, Showtunes, ArtsWest), local musical director Aimee Hong (Sound Theatre Company, Bainbridge Performing Arts, Renton Civic, SecondStory Rep), Reboot's Producing Artistic Director Jasmine Joshua, and award-winning director Harry Turpin (Reboot, Seattle Musical Theatre, Woodland Park Players). Reboot U presents four Saturday classes at Theatre4 at TPS, September 9-30th. For more information, visit www.reboottheatre.org Classes cost $25 each or $75 for the four-class series. Financial assistance available.

"Part of Reboot's mission is to draw new people into the Seattle theatre talent pool and we recognize that it's a tough nut to crack. We're very insular as a community," says Jasmine Joshua. "I am excited to offer this opportunity both to folks who are new to theatre and also to people reinventing themselves as artists and looking for a new monologue, song, or skill that better fits with how they want to be seen on stage.

In addition to fundraising, Reboot Theatre will be working this fall with Willhelm Consulting, whose previous clients have included theatre and entertainment groups Theatre22, The Seagull Project, Copious Love Productions, Washington Ensemble Theatre, The Libertinis, and more.

Through a combination of nontraditional concept, interpretation, and casting, Reboot Theatre Company endeavors to test new interpretations of established works both as a way for local artists to stretch their wings and for audiences to experience classics in a different light.

MISSION STATEMENT
